First of all, where abouts are you in the world? I am assuming USA. Can do alot for $4000, for example a late 70's car for example a datsun that has had a SR20det conversion done on it or something. Or perhaps a Subaru GT legacy or early WRX, they arent the most reliable car there is but they would leave your brothers 300zx behind.

The 300zx 1990 to 1996 america will top out at over 130 miles an hour. Twin Turbo Version will top 150 miles an hour. So Take it easy kid save your speeding tickets. $4,000 won't buy much. Save up for your second or third car get a job make lot's of money. Then buy a Porsche GT that car will do 200 miles an hour. And take performance driving school to learn car control it will save your life.

In a drag? Not much... You're pretty much limited to like fox-body Mustangs. You could try and get a 240SX with an SR20DET swap but $4000 is a bargain for one of those... Maybe an older 300ZX turbo, or an Eclipse GS-T or GS-X? Is it a N/A or Twin Turbo 300ZX?

Buy a $500 car (old Fox Body Mustang) and put $3500 in the motor. Ta Da.
I'd try to go for reliable over fast though.

It looks like your Grandfather is making a mistake.......You are spoiled...I suggest a 1970 dodge dart for you......How many teenage boys get a car and then go out and kill themselves and or someone else by hot roding.....

Well build it yourself. get a car with a turbo, and a standard shift, then put exaust and better air and fuel intake. oh then get a job and support yourself...it feels better
