Think about Red Dawn and the one called final count down.
I find that the last one is very fictional but what they show as taken place during ww2 could have changed things, as for red dawn a very real thing and when 9/11 took place I said out loud to my MIL dear God here we go. If they really wanted to hit the US there is ways. I'm not one to tell here and give out any ideas but the US needs to really think of how they are going act if thing change or contiue in the a bad way. Shehan wants to cry now, when the US is made into a puppet then she can really cry along with all those others against this war.

The problem with invading a superpower is the army is not kept in one place, and there are nuclear weapons. Choose what ever country you want for our scenario for it doesn't matter. A country attacks and invades the USA. Has anyone considered our nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers?

The old subs carried 16 Polaris missiles with a multiple warhead containing 8 nuclear bombs. I'm not sure what the newer subs carry. Multiply this by the number of submarines in active duty. The submarines are a major threat to any country.

If a country attacked and invaded our country, what would you do if you were a captain of a nuclear sub? Your wife and kids live here and are killed or captured. Are you going to wait on orders? If you know positively who is responsible for this act of war, what would you do?

I would gather other submariners and attack. I launch enough missiles to blow-up their country several times. The other countries know of this danger. Can you say you won the war by conquering the enemy's country while your homeland glows in the dark? Plain and simple, it is not cost effective.

We haven't talked about land based nuclear missiles, our aircraft carrier battle groups, and our military forces in Germany, Japan, and other lands. So, to answer your question, no, Red Dawn is not practicle.

This leaves only hit and run tactics (terrorist style attacks). But, what does this really gain them? Terrorists are nothing more than coward murderers using their beliefs to justify their killings. Nothing more and nothing less.

They're fiction. The Cold War is over. The Soviets didn't invade the U.S. As for the second one, it was interesting science fiction. With the emphasis on fiction. As for whether we would have changed things before the attack on Pearl Harbor, we are the ones who provided the Japanese with the idea of attacking the military sites on Oahu in the first place. Our Navy held an exercise in 1932, where mock attacks were launched on those military installations. A report on the exercise was published in "Proceedings", a military journal of the U.S. Naval Institute. Commander Genda got a copy and the rest is history.

Red Dawn is pure fiction. To believe that an invasion spear headed by Cuba and whatever other Central American countries could actually stage a landing (much less a successful one which invaded northward) is pretty laughable.

Whether you support the war or not you should support the troops fighting it. As an ex soldier I know that being slagged off back home is a big moral killer. Whether they come back dead or alive they deserve a heroes welcome. This shouldnt be allowed to become another Vietnam where the troops come back without ceremony just because a group of people are against the war as a whole.
