Gangrene (proper spelling) is a bacterial infection that has advanced to the point that the infected flesh is dying or becoming necrotic...that can happen anywhere in the body. I recently had my gall bladder removed and the surgeon told me later it was gangrenous and would have eventually killed me. Any untreated infection is nothing to mess with, because of all the resistant strains of bacteria we're commonly seeing nowadays...don't believe in evolution? The fact that bacteria are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics that used to knock them right out, is proof of eveolution at work. the bacteria are adapting to survive. I think Darwin had something there...K ;o)
