I have inherited two framed, very heavy paintings. They are labeled "Paragon Picture Gallery", Item #7398 & 7399, titled "Tuscan Still Life I" & "Tuscan Still Life II" by Moreau. Size is 24 x 36. Both have serial numbers. I wish to sell them, any ideas on an appropriate pricing point?

Hi! It seems that these are decorative pieces by Eduardo Moreau published by the Paragon Picture Gallery, a wholesaling manufacturer/distributor, that reproduces art for many different retailing outlets. I would just enjoy them!http://www.printfinders.com/product/artwork.exe?ArtworkID=97775&thumbs=1&productid=88892

Just because something is in a frame doesn't mean it is a painting. There is no reason to put "serial numbers" on something that there is only one of. What you appear to have inherited are reproductions.

Which means you're probably not going to be able to get more than a couple hundred for them, even if they're nicely framed.

I have never heard of him. Just because they are framed and heavy doesn't mean they are valuable. Anything with a serial number is probably crap.

edit: just saw pics, I wouldn't expect much. Probably giclees.

Check with either of the two auction houses or better both of them Sothbey's and Christie's at their websites. They have experts who can tell you all the particulars and how much you can expect to get for them too.
