Okay, here's the deal. I'm 15, gonna be 16 in September (the 14th), and I'm a sophomore in High School. I am really mad because I have a lot of talent in helping people. I'm volunteering at the hospital and i only get to work 4 hours every TWO WEEKS, no more (because of some stupid thing like "grades will lower if you work more, which is crap. This really angers me. I am almost POSITIVE I want it more than those other volunteers... Some of the people in there probably HAVE to do it, like community service for some law violation or something, and they probably dont want to be there. I WANT to be there, doing something, helping people. I sit at home all the time and my talent goes to WASTE. I want to be a Surgeon eventually (Yes, I am 100% sure, and very dedicated to that dream), and I just want to work in a hospital more than a lousy 4 hours every 2 weeks... Is there anything I could do to help people or something I could do? I am so bored and dont want myself to be a waste to society..

@Froggy - sorry. not the answer i was looking for. medicine helps people live. can you find an artificial heart in nature and the tools to transplant it? i didn't think so. sorry, you sound too religious expecting everything from seeing nothing.

help an elderly neighbor with their shopping or lawn work. volunteer at a soup kitchen or delivering meals to shut-ins. volunteer at a nursing home. if your talent is for helping people, people need help every day. you're 15, so i seriously doubt you would be that much more help in a hospital than anywhere else. sounds like you just want to fluff up your "experience". learn patience, gain maturity, and help others. becoming a surgeon isn't the be-all end-all for your life. become a surgeon if you want, but also have a life and give of yourself in other ways. life isn't just the destination, it's the journey.

If you really want to help people in the medical field then I advice you to use the time waisted between school and your cpl hr. job to learn about and advice Natural cures rather than all these medicines that just drowns out there problem but not curring it, so they can keep comn bk and forkn out money they can't really afford.Which the meds they script hurt some other part of there bods, NATURAL cures the prob and people don't need to keep goin bk to Dr.for the next prob. that the med they had scripted messed up some other part of there bod that had nothing to do with the prob they were there for in the first place,Examples- liver or kidney or wot ever the case. Good Luk. God Bless

If you're smart enough to be a surgeon, you're smart enough to find something to do with your time.

There must be SOME other volunteer opportunity, or you can get some books and teach yourself anatomy.

You're going to be spending a great deal of your life in hospitals in the future. Enjoy the freedom you have now.

I've got a job for you! Want to help me write about medical issues for my podcast? Seriously. I'll send you an email.

Good news!! From your outburst, I'd say you have a Surgeon's temperament. You should take Pangolin up on her generous offer; You just may learn something...And, by the way, the volunteers are there for assault charges.P

First, get a hold of your emotions

Second, maybe find another hospital you can work at.

Third, don't let your grades slip. That would be a deal breaker.

Sounds to me like you've got a very good sense of
ambition. There will always be a need for doctors &
surgeons. But, that being said, I also think you need
patience. (Please pardon my pun.)
