Does anyone know any quotes from the Origin of Species that indicate that Darwin was trying to "counteract the storm of religious protest that he expected to receive." In other words, does anybody know any quotes from his book that show that he was trying to expand spritiual consiousness in a way that would allow accpetance of his ideas?

Darwin did not write a book of religion or spirituality, he wrote a book of science. You do not need to "expand spiritual consciousness" to understand science and Darwin did not expect anyone to do that. On the Origin of Species was just one of Darwin's many books and papers, all of them about science and expanding scientific ideas. Why don't you read the book?

Darwin never acted openly against the Church. You will find no quotes that agree or disagree with any content of the Bible. He nearly stated his observations and made a theory according to those observations...

Back in his days, there was no social debate against the Church. The whole dispute started in the 90's with the believers' theory of creationism... and the scientists trying to stop them from spreading that irrationnal crap as a science...

If you want quotes from "On the Origin of Species", I'd suggest that you read it. If you want some facts about Evolution, here's a very good resource that you can use from the University of Berkeley:

It goes into much detail and includes research from many different sources, as well as articles that pertain to life today.

Charles Darwin had plans to become a minister. After publishing his book which didn't mention primates he basically went into seclusion. I believe an acquaintance who was Christian claimed that he recanted everything on his death bed but who could trust the source and even if he disowned his work it wouldn't invalidate the concept. The demonetization of this man is disheartening for me and I'm a follower of Christ.

Been years since I read it, but I don't recall anything in there that could be reasonably interpreted as caving to religious pressure or predicting its absurd issues.

Darwin was trying to explain to us how we (homo sapiens) got here. That's all.

The only thing Darwin ever "proved" is that pigeons produce pigeons and finches produce finches. End of story. Genesis 1:25

Look at all these verses containing the phrase, "after his kind." It simply means that there is no such thing as evolution - only genetic variation.
