A question was asked about Homosexuality. My answer was that we aren’t to judge.
The thumb vote was interesting.
My response received 10 thumbs down, 0 up.
The next closest was an actual Gay with 6 down, 3 up.
Atheist and Christians were an even mix.

It seems that Atheism and homosexuality is preferable to following the words of Christ.

Mathew 7:1
Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Mathew 7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

John 5:22
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

John 12:47
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

It is a personal revelation that I am compelled to share at least once on this forum that:
Judgment's been here since Adam felt naked. God does not judge. When we judge people that judgment is applied immediately on us.

We condemn ourselves by our own judgment of others for they are all part of us. We condemn in others what is a negative reflection of ourselves.

Could this be where believers agree with Atheist that the Bible is flawed?
Please enlighten me.

As with every belief system, Christianity (which obviously has a strong presence here) has boundaries that reveal inconsistencies. In this case, as described by some of the answers here, Christians are not to judge, but they are to 'discern' what is bad and wrong and bring that to the attention of the wrongdoer. From outside the belief system, this is no different from judgment. It just can't be seen from within the belief system because the systenm itself justifies the judgment and calls it something else.

It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment. In other words, God, in the person of Jesus Christ, will judge us all. Therefore, it is best for us to use the word of God to live our own lives. But also, we know that what is sin is sin. If it is wrong, it is wrong for everyone. And I don't know that this is a fair forum for judging the people who answer. I don't really take anything personally here, it is all intellectual argument. So if I give a thumbs down or a thumbs up, I am expressing my opinion, just like I express my opinion by answering questions. That is very different from talking to a person or seeing a person and judging them to be bad or good.

I still find it very strange that anyone goes back and sees the reaction to an answer that they gave. The only time I ever go back to a question is if I get a best of answers, and then only to see if I got a comment from the asker. I have absolutely no idea if any of my answers got a thumbs up or down. I don't care.

The measure that we use to judge others...is indeed the measure we will by measured by....it is our own measure of what is just and what is unjust in each moment.

The Father judgeth no man, because God is part of all men, and cannot judge that which is part of it's own energy or creation. The Judgement is committed unto the sons and daughters...because this is our human experience. We will have some judgements....how else could it be, in this world we live in.

If I am walking down the street and I see a child being beaten...I will judge that situation as unjust...and help the child. I will choose by my own freewill to assist the child..and I will consider the abuser to be harmful.

I also live by my own measure of judgement....I do not harm children.

there is a line in a pagan song:

"I judge the world from my own light..."

She was singing that she rejected the Christian God's authority to judge her, and used her own mind to judge the world...

I like this and agree with it. There are always situations in life when human judgment is a necessary tool. But by "judge" I don't mean condemn. I mean acquire information using my mind and my senses.

As to moral judgments in particular, I'm an agnostic and a pagan Witch, so I don't follow any particular deity. As a Witch, I use my own mind to decide what I feel is right. My mind doesn't condemn easily. I don't condemn that which harms none. Homosexuality harms none.

That decision is an easy one.

Well, if you want me to really get started. We are all graced with God Given Instincts....so if one desires that of the same sex, it is a god given instinct.
I am not one to judge. In fact on that particular platform, i stand very solid in my beliefs.
To me, educating christians is like people trying to outlaw abortion, we may to some extent make headway, but only to a certain point.
People who have grown up in the christian faith have been conditioned to think, act, and believe as they do, since birth. And this is done through so many generations that it is almost like there is no point.
Is there a chance for fatal flaw in the bible? Of course, it may have been divinely inspired, but still written by man. Nobody is perfect.
However, to point this out to those who have believed for generations and are biased from years of pre-conditioning, will only find another verse to contradict the truths that you have pointed out.

I hope you find what it is you seek...
blessings to you

I agree with you. I think this is just bad board to be on in general. When people don't agree with you, they just give you a thumbs down just to be a jerk about it. Not because you were disrespectful or presented it badly. These are not a happy group of people. People of all religions and atheists gather to rail against each other and point the finger away from their own hypocrisy.

I agree about the no judgment thing and wish more people would listen to it. Tolerance is not a complex concept. Every time I bring it up I get at least 3 thumbs down.

I used to. I used to truly believe I was more "righteous" than others. What a fool I was. I judged others without even knowing it. I thought it was justified. I was wrong.

I appreciate your insight on judgment. I agree now. God does not judge. When we know the truth, we judge ourselves based upon how we treat/have treated others.

It looks like you already have an insight that it took a powerful bang to the head for me to get. That's awesome!!

We are not to judge but discern what is good and not -only according to the Word of God.

I am not one to codemn them- that is between them and God & You're right there are plenty here that sit on God's judgement seat and point fingers when their sins are just the same (seperating from God). To inform someone if they are wanting to hear it ,is better recieved than someone condemning them to hell because they do a certain sin.

You really can't understand how the thumbs went as the did...?

Atheism is based on the truth of reality... Homosexual lifestyles are lived in reality....

Do you seriously think that either of those groups would abandon the truth of their own being in order to praise and adore something that's so fantastic and so incredibly outside the boundaries of reality as the story of Christ? Even severe head trauma doesn't cause people to be that stupid.

LOL... you're a hoot kiddo.

Right there behind you, Gnostic!

I quote the King James version, 'Judge not an ye be not judged'. But the judging just goes on.

I have to say, though, that I personally know a good number who do abide by that rule and do not judge others.
