If I was old, I would be terrified. Even if you are lucky and don't have any genetic diseases and no safety accidents, you will still eventually die of old age. There is no-way out and it is inevitable. I can understand why oldies don't disrespect God as much and go to Church more than young people. They are doing it for Fire Insurance. Death is scary. Whats going to happen to me?

You look very young for your age, June Smiles. Good health plan. I hope I still look 26 when I'm 70

It happens to everyone at a certain age, but it seems they learn to accept the inevitability and enjoy what they have left.

Here's something that would be really scary: the Associated Press did a story on a cat named Oscar, who lives at a nursing home, (I forget which state). This cat, Oscar roams around the nursing home at night, and he will jump up onto the bed of a patient, and within hours, that patient dies! The cat has done this 25 times in a row, without fail! Some scientist even did a study into the phenomenon, like maybe cats have some sixth sense, or maybe someone about to die emits an enzyme with an odor undetectiable by humans.

But could you imagine how scary it would be to be one of those patients in that nursing home? Wondering if one day you will be lying in your bed, and suddenly hear "Meow"! That's scary!

Sure, it's scary, it becomes less so the older you get, even if you are healthy and hardy. The reason is you've learned to realize there is no way ;you are going to live long enough to learn all the answers, or do everything you've planned, doesn't matter when it happens there is always more we won't learn in this life. So we become grateful for the life we have had and while we don't dwell on it, we accept what happens is what happens and are less afraid. I am 70, pretty vital for my age.

You've got me! I don't know about other elders think. I'm 78 and busy with life! I think the key to your Q is that WHEN we will die, remains a mystery. We won't know until we're dying! For me, I LOVE what physicists say about energy--that it cannot be destroyed, but it simply changes form! I'm energy, and figure that when my body dies, the "I" of me will change form and maybe be a part of another universe. I would hope, being a teacher, that there will be a tranfer of leanring from this life to the next! And then we can go on, learning more about life or all forms and help each other!!!

My sister died recently in a car accident..who would of ever known it was going to happen. No one knows when there going to die..My sister was such a vibrant person so full of life...She loved and lived for soccer. Yeah and heres the thing..Looking in the news paper all the others that died were in there 80's and 90's my sister was 17! I would never know why he took my sister..my family and i loved her so much! I guess God needed her more..this accident happend July 3rd.. Her and her good friend both died tragicly...Sometimes this world just dont seem fair..but you have to have hope and continue to live your life for the unlucky people who have died young..The older people have lived their live and im sure alot of them would die now and let a young person live if they had to. And no one knows what will happen to you

It doesn't worry me, it is going to happen. I would rather it didn't happen for another twenty years or so but when I go, I go. The approach of the end of life does not make me want to believe in gods or go to church. I don't know what you mean by "disrespect[ing] God". Respect is something you earn, it is not something you are owed. How can something that doesn't exist earn respect?

LOL hey did you notice or have you heard that young people die too??
It's a crap shoot young one.
Actually the older you get the more mellow you get & realize to die is part of living so live your life as though it was the last day.
Death is not to be feared it's to be accepted.

Your argument misrepresents the statistics. Old people are more often christian as they were brought up in a time when the majority of people were religious. It's not a case of being close to death that has made them religious.

You'll die too. Hope you get old first. I think most older people have come to terms with their immortality. It truly is fortunate that some live long enough to be considered old.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Dying is just part of our life cycle. It happens to all of us and therefore makes us equal. However judgement awaits at death and God is the judge so act appropriately. Check out His book the Bible for more answers.
