Elvis died the year I graduated from high school. Since then, there has been an obsession with him that is more than an admiration. We all have those celebrity whom we love greatly, but being inordinate leads to idolatry? I like MLK, but I will never worship him to the point it becomes unnatural. Listen, it has become outright demonic!
The world sees how whites over exaggerate their alledged love for THEIR king of Rock and Roll. He is not the king, Jesus is. Elvis rebuked those who called him the king.
Many minorities do not like Elvis due to lies that have been passed down, but I like him because he was a powerful Christian and spiritually gifted. He really went out on a limb for blacks, which most whites and blacks do not know.
Be that as it may, appreciate his talent, movies and songs, but do not worship the man. He was human!!

The time He began was like a new wave of entertainment.
I suppose for whites it was a major accomplishment that some white boy had rhythm and moves. And the same Happen when the Beatles came along.
I am only 29. So he wasn't the "king" in my time. Jesus is defiantly IT for me!

Holy mackerel! I didn't realize I was supposed to be worshiping Elvis. I have been worshiping Cash Money Records all these years. What is wrong with me! I've also been worshiping Wonder Woman, Bat Boy and the Grape Ape. Boy, I hope my prayers have not been in vain. I've been saving up for my invisble jet, I thought I could fly around the world with some of my homies ,like Flava Flav or Snoop Dog. I must be out of my place as a white person. Hey Dad? You got any Elvis records?

I used to work in a state mental hospital, and there's something weird I noticed.
A lot of the white patients had some kind of delusion about Elvis (more than any other person besides Jesus).
A lot of the black patients had similar delusions about Michael Jackson (more than any person besides Jesus).
(I'm not trying to insult your religious beliefs, a lot of mentally ill people have strange ideas about religion.)
I never was an Elvis fan, but he sure has some devoted fans. I don't get it--I'm more of a Beatles person myself.
Maybe for some people pop culture has become kind of a religion? It's a sad thing.

I don't worship Elvis and he was definitely not the king of rock. (That would probably be Ike and Tina) Saying all white people worship Elvis is like saying all black people worship Tupac.
(and those who do worship Elvis need a life)

The same reason black people worship Tupac? OK, let's not stereotype here. White people don't worship Elvis anymore than black people worship Tupac. Some love him, some hate him, and some couldn't care less, same with any other celebrity, past or present.

Why do black people worship Tupoc? I don't worship Elvis pal...and I'm about as white as a frickin' saltine cracker (skin wise) Not all blacks worship or like Tupoc, but since you group, I'm just making a point. And why do Asians worship Bruce Lee, or Jackie Chan? Why do Hispanics worship Antonio Banderas, or J-Lo? Idiot....

I have never understood the whole Elvis thing. I mean, he was a rock and roll singer, that's it. I want to know how long we are going to have to suffer through the week long retrospectives that come around every year around his birthday or the anniversary of his death. I mean, it's been thirty years already.

I am white and do NOT worship elvis.
For one thing I know very well that he was addicted to drugs, and that eventually led to his death if I am not mistaken.
And I do not know anyone personally who worships elvis.

People always seem to find someone to "worship" here on earth, don't they?
Weather it is Elvis or some movie star, band, or politician, they always seem to idolize and defend them scary per portions!
I agree with you, that GOD is the only one worthy of worship. The rest is biblically considered idolatry.

I never understood the Elvis thing either. His music was just okay and his movies were low budget. And when he got older they dressed him in those laughable costumes and made him ridiculous.
