First it is great that you are working out! There is no such thing as "spot reduction" with losing body fat. No matter how many crunches you do this will not ensure you have gorgeous abs. Crunches will strengthen your muscles in your core, and can help in creating nice abs.

The advice I am giving should only be followed after you have seen a doctor and they have told you you are healthy to exercise. This advice is only after getting PHYSICIAN APPROVAL to exercise.

1. What you need to focus on is cardiovascular exercise. You need to exercise for 20-50 minutes 4-6 days a week at 55-70% of your maximum heart rate. To find this subtract your age from 220 to find your MHR. Take your MHR and multiply this by .55 and .70. That will be the range of how many beats per minute your heart should beat during exercise. Cardiovascular exercse requires energy in your cell muscles and your body will supply energy from fat cells.

2. Keep up the crunches and resistance training. Muscle cells burn more energy than fat cells when you are at rest (so all through your day). The more muscle cells you have the more you will burn, so add some muscle.

3. Eat a healthy, well balanced diet. You want to eat lean proteins, legumes, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats. Avoid refined carbohydrates (like the sugars found in soda, candy, cookies, chips, etc).

I hope this helps. Remember to have fun, and get your physician approval before partaking in an exercise program! Good luck!

If you go to the gym 3 times a week it will help a little bit. Going to the gym is good but if your trying to lose your stomach if you go to the gym you are getting muscle under your stomach and that will actually make you look bigger. I use to have a stomach and i tried the same thing. A good thing to do is get into a sport like I lost most of my stomach playing basketball and baseball. One more thing is make sure you eat healthy or else you will lose your stomach and when you don't eat good you will get it right back. All the things I am telling you are from expirence.

same exact thing with me, i weigh about 160 but alot of it is muscle & im tall so it doesnt look like i weigh tht much. but you should drink a lot of water, eat healthy & do crunches. i suggest you do packs of 25 liek 4 times a day & start doing more as you work out more

Fat cells have to be stored somewhere in your body.
They have taken fat cells out of the stomach area thinking the person would never have that problem again.. they didn't the fat started to store in their back!
Your body has to store it somewhere that is the most convenient place, you have to have fat storage for optimum energy, so get over your vanity and be happy the way you are!

Don't use anything with corn syrup. Drink plenty water. If your back can handle crunches , add them to your workout. Ripped fuel helps to burn fat in the tummy area. Green tea also increases metabolism.

crunches start off at 25 then add 25 more every week, do them everyday. You'll see your stomach go down. Oh and if you drink pop, stop.

One's body is usually using up several unhealthy calories, as well as exercise allows you to melt away all of them more rapidly
