Whats a LCD, HD,Plasma?

I though all New TV's were the same, It doesn't make sense, Please let me know whats the difference and put details.

Liquid crystal display is a method where you do not need to face to view picture, lasts longer, plasma is gas tubes, and can develop black "hot" spots, HD is high definition-- a wonderful, lifelike picture
