You are correct! By the same token a head hunter on the Amazon river might never know about God or the 10 Commandments. He can't loose either.

Cleverness is an aspect of the human mind... A physical construct which has nothing to do with your self.
It has been shown that if you damage parts of the brain, your physical and mental abilities are affected.
You can consider your self (your true nature) to be far more potent that any brain. However, when you are manifest in the human condition, you can only express yourself through the brain. Your thoughts and assumptions may be misplaced. Sometimes you do something by reason, but have an instinct against it.
Why are some people born with better brains compared to others?
To square this seeming unfairness, one has to embrace the concept of reincarnation. If you have many mortal lives, your present condition may directly relate to your previous life and the achievements/difficulties one faced.
Cleverness has a purpose, and you don't necessarily have to be a quantum physicist to understand one'self.

I can't say how God will judge an atheist but I know that he gives us the freedom to believe or not believe whatever we want. I think there may be temporary consequences for not acknowledging his existence when he is so obviously there though. I believe he has placed enough common sense in every human to know that he is real. Sooner or later we will realize how real he is whether in this life or the next so we might as well just believe in him now.

If only that were true. It's because satan was clever enough to get you to believe He doesn't exist. Your sin can never enter Heaven. You need to accept God is real and Jesus is your savior or you wont go to Heaven. I'm telling you He is real, now you have no excuse. If you continue to deny Him He won't keep you from heaven it's your choice now.

Well, assuming that all atheists are atheists because they lack intelligence, then yes, you would be right. :-p
This scripture shows that those who die without knowledge are not condemned:
2 Nephi 9:26
26 For the atonement satisfieth the demands of his justice upon all those who have not the law given to them, that they are delivered from that awful monster, death and hell... and they are restored to that God who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel.
Hopefully the learned atheists will consider this scripture, too:
2 Nephi 9:29
29 But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God.
But being ignorant through choice doesn't absolve one of responsibility. It's only when there is no choice that there is also no accountability.

As a Dr. in Theology it is my adamant belief that all individuals MUST acknowledge that God does exist and ask HIM to save their soul. According to the Bible, the only true unforgivable sin is disbelief. If we lived in a vacuum and there was a person who never even heard the name of God spoken or even remotely explained to him, then yeah ok sure this person never knew to even be an atheist.

It's not about being clever. Lots of people are smart, whether their Atheist, Christian, Agnostic, Hindu, Muslim, or whatever It's about having the faith to believe that God is real, and that He did send His Son to die on the cross for our sins.

It's not cleverness that matters, my friend; it's choosing to believe. Besides, most atheists think they're *too* clever to believe in Him, rather than not clever enough. Like someone lost at sea who's too clever to grasp a lifeline when it's thrown to them.

God will not let anybody who would have him slip threw his fingers so if a person died without knowing God that means that they wouldn't have God even if they knew of him.

It doesn't take a clever person to realize God exists. On the flip side, it takes someone who closes their eyes, ears, and heart to the truth to deny His existence.
