Tomorrow I find out weither my flat is ready. If it is I'm moving in on tuesday... yeah I know I've left it very late but still my mums not the easiest person to talk to. I don't wanna hurt her I wanna tell her in a way that shows her that she can't chance my mind about it, that i'm putting my foot down about it but still in a way to let her know that she can come and see me whenever she wants, that its not as if I'm not going away for good. Any ideas??

I've already been approved for the flat though its tomorrow that I find out weither its all fix up and ready to move into.

I didn't tell her sooner because she doesn't take news like that well. last time I told her I was gonna leave she said 'over my dead body!'. Although that was when I was 17. I'm 18 now.

I'm guessiong your off legal age, and your mom still sees you as a small child?

Well..it will be hard...it is too bad you could not of said something before just to get her prepared...but...what you can do now is

sit her down with some tea..tell her..I applied for a flat and if approved I am moving out on Tuesday. Then stop..you don't need to go on..let her absorb that. And see her reaction. let her make the next move. And just calmy repeat..you want to be on your own..you found a place..she is more then welcome to come visit.
remain clam..try not to get upset if she prtests.Be the adult you are..let her see that part of you. Let her know..in a clam voice...if you do not get this flat..you are contuing your search. (just to let her know you are serious about this, and she needs to know this)
good luck!

Sticky J had a great answer. You could also add that you are excited to have her see it, and will probably want some ideas from her about decorating (or furniture arranging, or picture hanging or think of something). Also, there is a possibility that your mother has been thinking, "I wonder if this kid is EVER going to move out." lol

When I moved out, it was a bad scene. My mother threw away all my yearbooks, photo albums, sports trophies, and record albums. I had just graduated from high school 2 days earlier and I didn't have money for an apartment, so I just rented a room and didn't have space for all my stuff. You don't want that to happen to you..

Go tell your Mom now that you are moving out Tuesday. She might take it as badly as you think !! ... *smile*
