Physicists say that energy cannot be destroyed, but only changes form. This means to me that my "energy"--life force--will change form when my body dies. As an ex-teacher (if there is such thing), I LOVE the concept of "transfer of leaning"--where our learning can be applied to the next level. In my mind, I believe that this "energy" I have been using the last 78 yrs will be conserved, change forms and go to another plane--planet, which may even be an inch away in another universe and I can apply what I have learned in this life, to the next level! I believe that we are here to help each other and that that will continue. I would wish that we could take our loved ones with us....but???

There is nothing more important to us as living beings than that we have something we can describe as a soul that continues to exist after physical death and is everlasting. For without this, it is all for naught and there was no point in existing at all for ultimately it does not matter if we live for a year or a trillion years if we do not have immortality. And in fact not having such would really be the ultimate cruelty.
Cheers :)

Yes eventually I think we all end up in a heavenly realm. How fast we get there depends on what is in our hearts when we die. If we are filled with darkness (hatred, unforgiveness, greed, selfishness, etc.) we will probably go to a place of darkness until we get more light (love, kindness, forgiveness) in us. This is why throughout the bible God is telling us to live a life of love because love is what gets us quickly back to him in heaven. God is waiting for every soul who goes to the afterlife to help us get back to him.

When I go to a place where I get to see my children that I lost, my family members that have gone on before me YES. I can't imagine going to a place where I literally get to see the face of Jesus and feel the whole presence of God.

I hope so... I recently read a series of books called "left behind" there's about 15 books!
All about when Jesus comes back down to earth in revelations, it certainly gave me food for thought!
But I find hard to believe in though, so I try to persuade myself there is a better place otherwise it just depresses me!

kirstul,
If you are born-again, you will go to heaven. We get a glimpse of heaven in Revelation 22. There we will be in the presence of God forever. There will be no more crying or death.....or sickness.
However, if Christ did not pay for our sins (all people are sinners), then we will have to pay for them. This will mean that we have to spend eternity in hell. This is what Jesus endured to save those He has chosen. You may be one of those whom He chose to save-I do not know. However, if you do not know start reading the Bible and pray to God for mercy. Ask Him to help you to be more obedient to His word-the Bible. The "work" you do can never save you. Only Christ can save you, and He is very merciful.
The Bible says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." FAITH is a synonym for Jesus Christ (Rev 19:11). So then CHRIST cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If Christ is going to save you, it will occur throught the reading or hearing of the word of God-the Bible.

we can only answer according to our mortal knowledge, and all of us people will give different answers, because we all have diferent opinions about it.to argue about it also wont solve the problem. we must just live according to the 10 commandments and we must love one another, doesnt matter who or what religion they are.
