...and he sustains ALL things by the word of his power..." What does the word "all mean to you? How could Christ "sustain all things" unless he is almighty,what does this verse say about christ?

In Genesis when God created the universe, He created it by divine fiat. That is, He declared it into existence. For example, "And God said, 'Light be,' and light was" He spoke it into existence. And God said, "Let there be a firmament dividing the waters." And God said, "Let the dry land appear." He spoke these things into existence. And so the worlds were created by the word of His power, but the worlds are also being held together by the word of His power as shown here in Hebrews 1:3.

What the verse says about Jesus is that He is what He declared Himself to be ... God!

ALL means ALL and that is ALL , ALL means. So therefore, Christ's power is Almighty. And by the way for the person who doubted He said that- sorry He did. He created the whole world, and sustains the whole world, and still loves us. The power of Christ is shown in His resurrection and imputed to us through His Spirit- so yes HE IS ALMIGHTY- even if you do not believe it.

What bothers me is why smart people have to resort to reading books (and excusing them as legible) that have a shaded history like Hebrews.

For one, theres so much debate about who the author is no one knows.

Two, it sure as hell wasnt Jesus because if it was someone would have thrown that theory out there.

Three, why arent you asking yourself the same question? It could very well be anyone. How dare you even call it the word of God when you dont even know where it came from?!

The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the "exact" representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

Jesus told him: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father also.

From this point on you know him; you have seen him."

"Lord," Philip said to him, "show us the Father and that will be enough for us." "Philip," Jesus replied, "after I have been with you all this time, you still do no know me?"

I think you are taking this in the wrong way. At least use all of the sentence. God needed a rest from all our sinning. Jesus is sitting beside God now. "Word" is the meaning of the power God has given to Jesus.
But keep praying to God always. And thank Him for Jesus.

...I hope this is understandable for you... This is the actual Hebrew translation of the Scripture..."The Son is the radiance of the Sh'Khinah (Gods glory) the very expression of God's essence, upholding all that exists by His Powerful Word"....

Christ is... "all" is the complete encompassing of His Power.
He is El Shaddi..... God Almighty.

It is saying that Christ is nothing less than God himself. Oh and to the other answerer, no one knows who the author of Hebrews is Paul is one of the possibilities, but since the book doesn't open with Paul's name like his other epistles, he is not thought to be the author.

It says to me that Jesus is almighty, and that by His atonement, sins are purged. That by Christ death, sins are forgiven for those who want and ask for forgiveness. And that Jesus is today at Gods right hand side in Heaven.

I think it's self explanatory.
John says in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Word became flesh.

God=The Word
The Word became flesh.
Jesus was the Word made flesh.
God=Jesus.

Jesus The Christ was, when He was walking the Earth, both Fully God and fully man... in Heaven there is only One God... That which was Fully God on Earth, has returned to God in Heaven... The emmortal soul that was Fully man is now in Heaven and is our intercessor to God. If it were not for Jesus The Christ no mortal would have any way to come to God.
