Don't feel bad having a single glass of wine. I would list the following reasons in support of the occasional glass of wine;
1). It's not odd. Most European cultures serve wine with meals, even if one is dining alone.
2). Wine has therapeutic benefits, especially red wine. The grape skins contain polyphenols which are antioxidants that promote cell health and may protect against heart disease.
3). If the occasional glass of wine helps you unwind and you feel it supports your mood and emotional well-being, by all means, enjoy it.

It's completely normal. I do it, too. And I am not a big drinker at all either- I have a drink maybe just a few nights a month. My husband works nights and lots of overtime, so I spend many of my nights alone, too. I drink a glass of wine, sometimes a wine cooler to just unwind at the end of the day. Sometimes it just feels nice to be able to sit down alone and enjoy that bit of time to myself - a glass of wine and a movie is a great way to unwind. As long as you are responsible, and it's just a glass now and then, and it is not affecting any other areas of your life, then it is not a problem. One drink every great once in awhile does not make you an alcoholic. Overindulging in it often and becoming dependant on it, is when a person needs to worry. If you drink enough to actually feel it the next day, and it interferes with the other responsibilities in your life, then that would be a problem. But just a glass now and then to relax is fine. It is actually pretty common for people to drink a glass of wine with a meal every evening, and drinking it moderately actually has health benefits to it as well. :)

Yes it is normal. A glass of wine every now and then doesn't make you an alcoholic. You seem very lonely and that is what I am more concerned about. Try to find some girlfriends to hang out with. Do you know some other military wives in your area? But really just a glass of sometimes to unwind is fine. Hope your husband comes home soon.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. Many adults find that wine helps them relax and unwind from the stress of the day. Wine also has some health benefits and can increase your life span, it's been clinically proven time and again.
The only set back is that there's always the ability to start with a single class, then go to two, and then three. Its a very easy alcohol to drink, so its easy to get drunk with it. My mom for example is an alcoholic in mediation. She only drinks at night and the only thing she drinks is wine. But she always ends up drunk and turns into a relentless psychopath. So its good to keep your number of glasses in check.
There's nothing wrong at all with it, and drinking wine doesn't make you an alcoholic. In mediation, it can be very beneficial.

I think the question is: why are you afraid you would seem like you are an alcoholic? Does this run in your family? Do you have a fear one glass is never enough?
Having an alcoholic drink at home when you are alone is nothing, why are you attaching such a stigma to it?
Just don't let yourself get fall down drunk or too weepy, because there will be no one there to catch you when you fall or hold when you cry.

It's perfectly fine to have a glass of wine every now and then. Wine is not a very alcoholic drink, assuming the type of wine you are drinking is not overly strong.
It definately helps you settle down, and if you enjoy having a glass every now and then, you perfectly ok.

Do you ever eat when you're alone?
Of course, it is OK to have a glass of wine (or anything else you enjoy, for that matter) when you are alone.
I think your fear comes from the fact that one of the "signs" of alcoholism is drinking alone. True, most alcoholics drink alone, but not everyone that drinks alone is an alcoholic.
Do whatever you enjoy!

A glass every now and then is fine. I live alone, and have some wine from time to time. As long as you're drinking all the time and it's not interfering with your life, there's not problem.

What ever in the world made you think that you're not supposed to drink alcohol by yourself?!?!
I do it every day after work to unwind whether I'm by myself or not. It's the best!!!!!!!!! It's harmless. Just don't get carried away or you will feel like crap the next day.
