If you're doing self-catering, you should definitely use lira. However, carry hard currency such as euros or pounds and exchange it by the day, as the lira has been known to fluctuate wildly.

Turkish Lira is best to use when eating out, and at the supermarket. Credit cards are also a posibility for purchases at the supermarket.

take lira u get loads 4 ur money i went there in june with my boyfriend, we went to marmaris it was the best holiday i have ever had. HOWEVER do not let people out there know that it is you first time, thats if it is, as they will try to overcharge you for things as they do not price things and therefore try to get more for goods than what they are actually worth. So if anyone asks its like you 3rd time visiting! have a lovely holiday!
