good question but don't expect an educated answer here. Most of what you will get is "thou shall not kill" and the new testament over rides the old testament yet it is quit clear in the bible as you pointed out that god commanded men to kill homosexuals as well as people from other religions.
I am also baffeled at why soldiers pray as if god is on their side before going into battle yet the bible clearly states "Thou shall not kill".
What amazes me is if God is so perfect then why was there a need for a new testament anyway? Why did god make "typos" and have to rewrite the bible to change old scriptures?
Amazing.

Do you mean "Why don't Jews..."? Because that's an Old Testament law. (The answer, I think, is that rabbinical judicial decisions have since mitigated the death penalty.

And some Christians do believe in the death penalty for Levitical offences. They're called "Christian Reconstructionists". You can Google them. Or Wikipedia them.

Of course, some Christians don't believe that homosexuality is sinful in the first place. But that's a whole other ball of wax, relating to how we read the Bible and what level of importance we assign to different passages.

Most Christians are having a smorgasbord of choices they use to interpret their "Holy Book" ( hardly any of them have a clear understanding of what "holy" means), and they simply choose which " teaching" they will take as serious dogma, and which "should not be taken literally".
If it sounds too cruel or unreasonable and childish, they pull out their "don't take it literally" card.---Otherwise they say
" who are we to question the word of the Lord?".
When you question them on the 6day "Creation",---they say, "in God's time maybe a day was a thousand years". -- does this mean that it rained 40 days, or 40 thousand years, to cause the great flood? Does it mean Jonas spent more than a thousand yeas inside the whale?--( long time w/o oxygen ). Did the Jews wander in the desert 40 years, or 40 thousand years? They will manufacture some kind of answer if they try hard enough to avoid the truth.

Same reason we don't do many of the other things commanded in the Law of Moses - because those were written to Jews living in a theocracy thousands of years ago. Just because God commanded some people to do something at some time does not mean he wants everyone else to do the same thing now.

Of course, not having the Spirit, anti-Christians fail to see the difference.

GOD gave Adam and Eve a Commandment after coming up them; it is written: "Be fruitful and multiply, and top off the earth, and subdue it: and function dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the rooster of the air, and over each residing ingredient that moveth upon the earth.". next, specific nutrients have been freed to consume after Christ became as quickly as crucified, died and rose as quickly as greater from the lifeless. That is the Old Covenant - I don't know the exact command; presumably they had to be caught in the act.

New Covenant is different, and does not use coercive measures to enforce obedience. (Although any State must make sound laws of course; those decisions are made democratically).

Christians are not under the Old Covenant. Non-believers are not under any covenant with God.

Well, since Jesus had to be killed by Romans, it would appear that the laws of the countries the Christians are in are the ones that get to have say over who dies, not the Christians.

Because in the Bible it was God that wrought punishment on the wicked. It is not our responsibility to pass judgement on others; that's Gods job.

Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and focus on making yourself a better person instead of condemning those who are different.

Oh goodie - another Bible scholar. Read up on Christian doctrine regarding the Old Testament, and then read up on ritualized homosexual prostitution among the ancient Canaanites. Then come back and ask this question.
