10:00- 10:30 or 11:00 on summer nights, 9:30- 10:00 on school nights, you are 17 after all. Your mom just wants to protect you from the evils of the world.

As a teen my curfew on the weekends was 11:00. During the week I was allowed out one night (my choice) but had to be home by 9:00. I can't remember what my summer curfew was...
You need to show your mom that you can be trusted.
Point out that you would hate for her protective parenting to backfire when you take off for college or move out. Many kids run buck wild and make poor decisions just because they are excited and overwhelmed by being away from too many rules.

Poor thing. I am the 36 year old mother of teen girls. I am very conservative and protective and min stay out way later than that. Having said that. Just be honest with mom and ask her if maybe you can stay out later once a week or something like that and then MAKE sure you are not late. Gradually, maybe she will let you stay out later. Also, don't ask to stay out to 1am, be reasonable and ask to stay out to 10 at first and make sure she knows exactly where you are going to be and with who. If she doesn't give, she is your mother and you have to respect her wishes. Understand that she loves you and is trying to do what is best for you, even though I personally think she is being overprotective. Be respectful of her no matter what. Look on the bright side. You'll be 18 in less than a year. If it doesn't get better, you can move out. Good luck and don't be too hard on mom. Most of us have good intentions and when you are 36, you will probably be thankful she cared so much. ((hugs))

I'd say six is pretty early, but since she's your mom and you live under her roof, eat her food, use her utilities etc. etc. you deal with it When you have a 17 year old daughter you can let her run amuck... I'm sure you'll understand by then why she doesn't want you out.

Ouch, I thought I had it rough when I was 17.
Have you tried bringing over friends after 6? She might get annoyed and let you out?
I hope she realizes that she's not prepping you very well for college...
