Because Christians believe the Bible is "inspired word". That God basically told the people who wrote the books in the Bible what to say. Since they believe the Bible has never been changed, editted, or tampered with in any way it's supposed to retain the words God meant for it (hence God's word).
I personally think that's baloney but it's what the church believes. The Bible wasn't put together until around the 4th century (the Vulgate), and it was people who chose what to go into it. That's why different versions of the Bible have different words used, and sometimes even different books.

Because it IS. It is the inspired word of God, and the closer you examine what it says, and how it all fits together, you can see it is a harmonious whole. It becomes too perfect to be thought of as merely the work of just men.
Hey, try getting even two people together to write a book of theology...you can bet they will disagree!
Try for 40, they would REALLY disagree, right?
Uninspired, yes...but the Bible was written by God through more than 40 "authors" and they ALL AGREE on the doctrines found in the Bible.
Reason why is there's really only ONE Author- God.

God lay upon the hearts of man to write the Bible. God wrote the law for the Israelites Himself on stone for Moses when God freed them from bondage, Genesis 24: 12, "And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tablets of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them". God also wrote a not on the wall for King Belshazzar in Daniel 5:1-31.

"The Word of God" is a euphemism for the Bible. There are places in the Bible where it says "the word of God came to so-and-so..." or "the apostles preached the word of God..." or "they heard the word of God and believed...". The Bible contains these passages and these words and as a result has come to be known itself as the Word of God, to the confusion of many people.
This isn't to say the Bible isn't accurate, infallible, true, or anything else. Just that it's not the same as "the Word of God". The proof is found in its pages. Just find all the places where "word of God" is used in the Bible and see if any of them refer to the Bible itself -- or even to anything that is written. They don't.

"And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
II Peter 9:19-21
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.'
II Timothy 3:14-17
Jesus said the Scriptures were the Word of God:
"Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'? If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken— what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?"
He further said this:
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."
Matthew 24:35
and this:
"It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law."
Luke 16:17
and this:
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."
Matthew 5:17-18
I suppose the Bible says hundreds of times this one simple phrase: "And the Lord said.........."
Either you believe it, or you don't. If you are wrong. you alone will bear the consequences.

That's one of the reason why I'm atheist. I don't believe is the word of some imaginary being as the believers claim it to be.
