I am looking for a guitar, (probably acoustic to start off with) that is under 200, preferably something around the 100-150 range. What is a good brand to start off with??

A takamine or yamaha. Epiphone also makes a lot of acoustics but I would probably trust takamine over any of those. If you look really hard on ebay, you could probably find a Martin for under $200. Martins are the best acoustics in my opinion.

I found a Hohner acoustic for less than a hundred dollars, and it really plays well, almost as good as the expensive ones, and I play professionally! It's just a tad smaller than the big jumbo acoustics, and is easy to play, and carry around! Look in musiciansfriend.com, and they have several, in all price, and size range! I personally have played the Epiphone, and Ibanez'!

i would try to find a used guitar so that you are getting a better deal, but try these guitars..."takamine", "harmony", "aria", or you may be able to find a used "guild", "fender", "ovation"
i have seen some nice guitars at garage sales, at flea markets and at local music stores that were under $100

once you're actually thinking heavily taking up enjoying guitar i could advise figuring out to purchase a mid-variety guitar, rather of a newbie one. in the tip that's going to likely be extra inexpensive and you wont could desire to handle a crappy guitar. those 'newbie p.c..' issues in many cases merely rip people off besides.
