Because I suffered for years with different mental problems and had no support or way to find answers. I did a lot of self destructive things in hopes of finding some answers and help. I know what its like to suffer and feel alone. I would like to help others avoid that if I can.

I am totally dumb. What's Y/A ?
Oh, Duh.
I post to read and contribute experiences that are bigger than my own social/professional/medical circle. Sometimes I learn, sometimes I contribute, sometimes I support.
The Mental Health is like group therapy with no "stiflers" so everybody can chat if they want. Plus no one has to stare at anyone else or see any rolled eyes or groans from other people.
Plus, other categories are funny.

there are days that i feel good with my mental health so i go on and try to help others feel good too
their are days where i feel really low and rubbish and i know that i can come on to the mental health pages and talk about my day and there are people having a good day and they will leave messages that make me feel ot so alone and as mental illness can be very selfish i dont feel selfish and it is good to know i am not the only one whe feels like i do
i hope you realise what i mean
have a great evening

Because we have experience of mental health problems ourselves and so can give support and share what we've learned. And we also use it to find out information to help us with our own problems as others answers to question that effect us can help us also.

I am very likely dysthymic (low-level) depression. I suspect I have Asperger's. But I also realize my problems are probably minor compared to some other people's.
And if I can help someone, that makes me feel better.

Basically, I answer questions about the certain medications that I take. People are looking for someone with personal experience like that.
