If you found some evidence that suggested that Catholicism was correct after all, would you research further, or would you ignore it?
Here's two examples in my own experience: When I found out that the Catholic Faith made more sense than expected, I went out and researched it and eventually converted.
On the other hand, my uncle, when confronted with certain truths initially agreed that Catholicism may have some good points, but by the next week swore up and down that he had never agreed to anything.

"protestant" literally means "one who protests against the authority of the Catholic Church aka a non-Catholic Christian"

As a response to someone below: When will CATHOLICS get an apology from Protestants for all the Catholics who were martyred? Like the 100,000 killed in the Peasant's War? Or all the Catholics martyred by the Anglican Church over the years? Or the way Catholics were treated like second class citizens in this country (America) until only recently, both in laws and in attitudes?

Larissa,
Anyone not catholic is protestant by definition. REGARDLESS of what you call yourself. Or what version of Protestantism you follow.
All:
I am not Catholic. It is the only Christian Church that ever existed until some king wasn't allowed to divorce his wife and decided to create his own "Christianity." All deviations are deviations of Catholocism.

There are a lot of other kinds of christians, that are not catholic, nor protestants.
I am open, i would not ignore facts if they would come along. But the history of catholics (the cruciades, the inquisition) are enough reason to be pretty sure they can't be a religion of god, at least not the way i imagine god to be like.
The things i knew about catholics (not the members but the leaders) made me lose any faith a few years ago
Brian F: there are 2 major wings of christianity, wich are catholics and ortodoxs. And i dont call myself in any way.
There was no deviation, they simply splitted. I'd like to know where from you got that information. Please email me or IM, i'm really curious

Catholicism has many good points.
It's the unbiblical points ones that I object to.
The Vatican apologized within the last few years for their passive role in the Holocaust for the death of millions of Jews.
When do you think Protestants might expect an apology for the thousands of Bible believing Christians that were martyred for their faith by the Roman Catholic Church?

I find your phrasing of the question very interesting. You call it a "Catholic Faith", but Catholicism, in my opinion, is not a faith--Christianity is. I believe that on my levels, Catholicism is correct in many of their Christian doctrines, so in that sense, I may say that they are "correct", but I do not agree with 100% of what the Catholic denomination teaches. In fact, I don't believe that any Christian denomination is 100% correct, because no one but Christ Himself knows THE truth. Once Christ ascended, though the church is still inspired by God, it is left but in the hands of men, who are not infallible. My choice of denomination then, is based on my own understanding of which denomination I believe to be closest to the truth (Lutheran for me); however, I see all Christian churches as being a part of the Body of Christ and partakers in the promise of eternal life and salvation.

When one knows The Truth one can see the deception and shallowness of the RC man invented doctrines and 'traditions"... Those of The True Christian Faith know The Truth.
All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. Those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.
The RC is not The Church... it is not the first or only... any cult which places man between God and the individual is just that... a cult...
There is only One Church... and there is only One Head of That Church and there is no need of any "vicar" on Earth... The Church is where ever Two or more are gathered in Christs Name.

Catholicism is a man-made religion constructed around the truths of Christianity. I believe the Word of God, and the Catholic Church is not in there.
Where do you think you Bible came from.
Resent being called Protestant here is a more proper word. Heretic.

First, I take offense at being called a protestant just because I'm a Christian who is not a Catholic.
This is the Great Catholic Arrogance: There are Catholics and there is everyone else. They are The Church and everyone else is "protesters" against the church.
The fact of the matter is that there is one true faith and it is described in the Bible. The Catholics are an erroneous branch of the one true faith, and the protestants are an erroneous branch of the erroneous Catholic branch. Meanwhile those of us practicing biblical Christianity the way it was intended by Jesus and the Apostles are not even recognized as existing.
So... no answer to your question because it is based on a completely faulty premise.

Presently, I do not think the Catholic, Protestant, or Mormon 'faith' is perfect. The real test (to me)is are they willing to grow (in Christ's conditions/terms (not man's conditions/terms)). (I am presently distinguishing between the people and the structure) on the point.

We should pursue truth. I have certain beliefs and try to teach my children about my faith. It is uncomfortable when they question what I believe, but ultimately the best faith is one that you truly hold for yourself. As we study our faith, we should never be afraid to change our beliefs in the face of Truth.

Catholicism does not embrace all the truths of the bible. It instead places belief and practice into revelations that did not come from the bible. The bible tells us that there is no need for medators between us and God except for Jesus Christ. The bible does not tell us to pray to Mary or any of the saints. We are given the privilege to pray directly to the Father. The bible also, does not mention purgatory. If we repent of our sin directly to God, not a priest, and accept that Jesus sacrificed himself and was crucified and was raised again on the 3rd day for us and believe in him as the son of God, we can receive salvation and KNOW that we are going to heaven for eternity. I would urge you to pray to God for discernment and read the New testament for yourself to find what is really revealed to us by God and not by man.
Blessings to you.
