NO I pay taxes in America
***************************************
I never thought about it. I live in the U.S. so I don't really have any reason to support British troops.

The above quotes were just 2 answers given in response to a question I raised recently...
Fair enough reason I guess not to support us.. you pay your taxes in USA so why even give UK troops a second thought..
After all, it's not as though the Twin Towers was in the middle of London UK is it?

Re Val F
I salute your courage, along with all other Mothers & Fathers who have watched thier young sons and daughters ship out to Afghanistan and Iraq - Thank You.
I also think you will find, if you ask your son, that he also wants to be deployed where-ever to do right by his mates - the ones who stand shoulder to shoulder with him, behind him, and in front of him... it's NEVER just for Queen & Country today I'm afraid. Those days are long gone.
Troops of today are far too savvy to believe in "fighting for Queen & Country" today. Those days are long gone, the respect has long gone after years of our energy being sapped by politicians.
To have respect for Queen & Country, that has to be earned BY Queen & Country today.. sadly, Tony Blair has made sure that a blanket 100% respect for any and every UK Service Personnel is NOT a done deal as say in 1982 during the Falklands War.. or WW2 or WW1.

good point OK the shock and awe of 9/11 was horrifying and shocking. but what did it have to do with the UK??
i don't remember the yanks giving Europe military support in WW1 or ww2 until they had been attacked - the sinking of that US ship in ww1 and pearl harbour in ww2.
all supporting the yanks has done is put Britain in danger as we saw on 7/7.
we should have done what the french did let America fight its own battles

I whistle the British Grenadiers theme quite regularly. Though I think these two people are thinking since they have not met a British trooper how can they support them. Public support for troops being in war usually comes from the home nation, friends, and family of these people that usually takes meeting them or having them around. The same question could be said of why does the UK not support the Polish troops. It comes down to perceptions and knowledge of the people.

There is no reason what-so-ever for American citizens to openly support British Troops. No such support is asked for. UK is an alley of the USA, that's all there is to it. We're in it together and we're going to win, there's no question about it.
Meanwhile the British people give maximum support to their own military personnel and the American people should likewise support their own military personnel.
The only reason why UK supports USA is because we have a shared adjenda. If you think we love you, then you are on your way to the funny farm. It's business, trade and just doing it right!

I have to agree with h h 's answer because I live in the USA and my Grandmother has family that lives in the UK and when they come over here they don't talk like most of these UK people on here do. I even had one of them tell me that it must be the young ones who are saying all this bad stuff about our US troops.
Though I know it's not nice what they say about our troops and it makes me upset because my Father happens to be one of those people over there.

Americans who are not morons support troops from the UK since the UK is more than likely our closest ally.
Please do not let the comments of a couple idiots lead you to making the wrong conclusion.

I guess the fact the Britain entered the war to aid the USA in its "war on terror" means nothing because afterall, theyre not american. They only help because they were told to but im sure if any British soldier met someone that shares that veiw, I expect they might be slightly pissed off about it to say the least.
I dont think there are any FAIR arguments not to support the troops because our own armies and those of our allies all fight (and die) for a common aim. By not supporting them, you are betraying them in my opinion because it is your rights that they are protecting.

People who do not support the troops lead protected lives ..
Soilders are here to protect our country in numerous ways and i suspect the people who do not support the troops would be the first ones to call for the armed forces support if something went wrong
Soilders do a job regardless of wether they agree or not . .they do not question and obey orders ...
My hubby has been on so many deployments our youngest does not know him .
In 9 years of marriage i have spent added up 3 and half years of that together ..
I am proud of what my husband does .. he makes so many scarifices for his country and yet many people have no idea what our armed forces have to endure ...
I am full of nothing but pride for our forces and apprechiate what you do for us

No its not a fair argument! British and American troops are fighting alongside each other for the same cause so deserve equal support, but that's my personal opinion/choice. We have to realise that not all of us think the same regardless which side of the pond we are.I can only add that I feel the two answers you refer to in your question are probably not representative of many Americans...

I am from the UK
I have read all of the answers on here and I am totally disgusted at some. Many soldiers are out there as a call of duty and this is because of loyalties from our government. I don't want the Americans to love us just respect that our sons and daughters have been sent to a hell hole in the course of a days work. Do you really think that I want my son to be in Iraq or Afghanistan but it is what he wants to do for his Queen + Country, But don't disrespect him for his beliefs or his loyalty to his colleagues ..............
