when someone else says "oh my god!"
can't you understand that not everyone is gonna believe the same thing?
and everyone has there own views on certain matters, so why let it get to you?

My dad's an asshole.. so your comments about my father don't hit home, as you expect them to.

i'm NOT talking about Christians getting offended, i'm talking about people who choose not to believe in God..
why do they get offended by the phrase?

I have found that people that are easily offended are often very guarded (in this case their view of God) about certain things and they do not open themselves up to a wider range of understanding.

In my experience the people offended my that expression the most are devout Christians. They see it as akin to taking the lords name in vain. I've never known an atheist who was offended by "oh my God!"

Think of the person you value most in the world. Every time someone sneezed, they use that person's name you hold dear (like they knew that person). Wouldn't you wonder what gave them the right to act like they were so familiar with someone they didn't know and love personally?
I know that's a lame way to say it, but it's as though the name of God has come to mean less because of the way it is used out of context. To us who think of God as precious, it is, yes, somewhat offensive. (Also one of the ten commandments says not to use the Lord's name in Vain...meaning not to use it in a frivolous fashion).

Because it is blaspheme. It's that simple. If you come around me with a foul mouth you will either shut up or leave or I will righteously throw you bodily away from me.
If I come around you and you foul mouth I will leave. What ever the situation. I'll quit a job over it. Nothing good can come from a relationship with a foul mouth individual no matter what his persuasion.

They get offended because they follow and don't think for themselves. Its just an expression not a curse. Its usually bible beaters that get offened but then again aren't they the ones always doing things that make us say just that??!!
The cycle never ends my dear..it never ends!

Sure I know everybody's not going to believe the same things that I do. It just makes me sad to hear it. Just like it would if someone "badmouthed" your father. You wouldn't like it, and I don't either. But it doesn't bother me as in I would go and hit or yell at the person who said it. THAT would be wrong, but its not wrong to dislike it when people say it. Doesn't that make sense to you?

lol. When people go and say "oh my god" they are usually not on the subject of religion and they are mis-using the word god so it seems offensive to their religion. The one are mostly offended are the christians, my girlfriend is christian, i know things. (i am catholic, ****!)

I don't worry about anyone who would become upset over the use of words. The people that are offended are the one's that are judgemental and are wrong to judge before being judged.

We are all as different as the flowers that God made. But why would you use His name to bring shock value to your conversation ? You're taking a Holy Name and using It carelessly. We aren't suppose to use HIS name unless we're praying to Him,ministering to others or reading HIS word out loud. God will hold no man guiltless that uses HIS name In vain...You're putting yourself In judgement of being sent to sheol,hades.....HIS NAME IS HOLY TO BE REVERED,RESPECTED. Not used as a by-word ro bring shock value to your converstion...Who are you trying to Impress? Certainly not God...

it's funny how people in this country get so hung up on words. the christians get offended because it is one of the 10 commandments. i agree with you: sorry you don't like it, but if i said it, let it be. getting all salty about it doesn't help a thing.
