No, not really.never thought about it one way or the other..But when anyone in my home or car says the Gd words then i put them out of my car or home for five minutes till they learn not to say that in my presence. people have rights to say what they wish to. But NOT in my car or home. i quit a good job once when the boss man kept saying Gd.all the time.I wish you the best.and may God bless you
and i was at a private Christian school and said Gosh and was whipped with a paddle 3 times hard for saying that and i didn't think that was right. but i went along with it.
But really its the way the would say that .if their were a car wreck and someone said oh my God. i don't think that would be Bad.it recognizes God in a serious situation.I have said oh my God at such times like that and it was almost prayer .to recognize God in bad times.and my thoughts after saying that would be a prayer.

No.

The thought that calling out God's name at any time is in vain is ridiculous. The more you say God's name the better. There is a method of meditation where you repeat the sound of God over and over to invoke his blessings.

If you invoke him whenever you are surprised or scared more power to you. Even if you are not intending to. If you were to call out my name in surprise I would be so honored and so is God. Those who say you should not say His name are misinterpreting the words of God. Say His name whenever you want. His name is not taboo and not reserved for prayer.

If you are not calling on God for some reason other than to glorify His name, you are taking it in vain. How would you like it if people walked around all day going "oh my so and so" (fill in the blanks with your own name.) So yes, it DOES bother me

No it doesn't because i know people just say it to express their astonishment or shock.People don't deliberatly say it to affend someone.Though i guess some people would get affended as it suggests they are taking 'Gods name in vain'.The word 'God' is seen to be very sacred to some and so they feel it should not be said or put into that context.Though i have to admit i often say it myself but i try not to if i know someone will get affended.

The name of the Lord thy God in vain. Literally, "Thou shalt not utter the name of God to a falsehood" The word "in vain" means literally "to a falsehood." From the old word meaning a lie, a falsehood.

People say OMG when something incredulous happens. Therefore, It would seem to be an appropriate usage since a belief in god is absurd.

Not at all. The god of the bible is a heinous murderer that rules heaven and Earth as a tyranny. It takes a horrific character like the god of the bible to make statements like OMG work.

Depends on the context of how and why they are saying it. If it is in a derogatory manner then yes. No one should take the lords name in vain after all.
