A cult will ask things from their members one being that they not discuss what has been said with the outside world, certain things they must do like give money to for the cause .Buy only their types of music (like hillsong) not associate with anyone else who does not follow that religion, ask that they separate from their family and not associate with friends and only church members and church activities. These are all things that a cult does. A true religion should not ask any of these things to be done, however Christianity does ask that you pay money when you go in their church and that you attend every Sunday. Other religions have other ideals , you should not feel like you have to conform or are coerced into anything by anyone else if you do or are harassed by people coming to you door trying to recruit you or constantly phoning you that is cult behaviour and should be reported to police.

I think most religions are cults. They brainwash the populace to believe in a truth that can't be disputed. A cult is usually referred to when the brainwashing is more severe and dominates one's life completely. They tell them what to think, what to do, they usually live with the cult and are manipulated in a very strong way.

Cult has no compassion to others.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

But true religion shows unconditional love.

Cults usually exercise a high degree of control over their members, and tend to center on a charismatic leader or leaders. They also tend to be rather humorless and to severely punish dissention.

All religions are cults. That's where the word "culture" comes from. It is not a negative thing. What you have to beware of is the occult, which is the opposite, promoting anarchy, rebellion, lies and murder.

There was once a king who invited a priest a rabbi and a Muslim Imam to debate. The king wanted to find out which was the best religion.

The Christan was asked to go first he said the Jews came first so they should go first. The Priest and the Rabbi argued and then agreed for the Imam to go first.

He said, "If the Jews are going to heaven then we are with them because we believe in Moses as do the Christans. If the Christans are right then they we go to heaven with them but the Jews are in trouble. But if the Muslims are going to heaven they are both in trouble because they don't believe in Muhammad." (peace and blessings of God be upon him).
