never!!
I read the questions until I find one that interest me, and after I read the complete question, I then decide to answer it or not.
I used to answer as many questions as I could, now I am much more selective.

I read the question and determine if I want to answer it, but I find the avatar or image to be interesting - and sometimes revealing about the asker - like I'm an American and so am proud to have the US Flag as my background. That doesn't mean every American should do the same - just that it likely reveals that I'm an American.

I admit, I do look at the avatar; I think it gives a hint about the person and what spirit they are asking the question in. I've seen some ostensibly serious questions that I have shied away from answering because the avatar appeared offensive.

I usually just look at the question. I look at the avatar only as an afterthought. After all, there is nothing personal about all of this. Besides, some people change their avatars so often it is hard to keep up.

Just as Jack, I do look to see if the question is a sincere one based on the avatar(eg.a sarcastic question meant to rile up a group). A name will usually tip me off.

Sure, I look at the avatar as well as the user name--depending on those two things, I may also look at how long they've been a member. (If I think it's a troll, I move on.)

Yes, I look for an avatar, and if there isn't one I know it's a despicable character and I don't answer.
Also I never read the question.
Well maybe a little.
