In medicine it is felt that the simplest explination is usually the correct one.

The simplest answer here is probably ingestion of a large volume of green or even blue food coloring. Ask if she had a lot of blue drink (common with raspberry flavored drinks) a large amount of candy, or cake colored blue or green.

I had this once myself when I ate a large amount of blueberry flavored popcorn.

There are liver issues which could be involved, but she would probably be complaining of other symptoms also such as left upper abdomen pain, fever, generalized juandice, malaise.

It's very strange that your niece would be urinating green urine and defecating green faeces. I would agree to some extent with the other 2 answers about food colourings but I would be concerned that these 2 people answering say that this is "okay."

It is important to rule out food colouring or dyes, but in the body green is associated with bile. Bile is produced by your liver and enters into your gallbalddee where it's stored. When you eat this is released into your intestine to dissolve fats and to help absorb nutrients.

If people have gallstones they can pee green urine and have faeces (poo) which floats. If your niece has yellowing of her eyes or skin or has become tanned this is cause for concern.

I'd advise you consult a doctor as it's difficult to make a solid diagnosis with the info provided in your question. Better safe than sorry:-) It may be completely normal......but it's hard to say without an examination

This sounds like she has eaten something maybe the dye in a felt tip or crayon. As long as she has no discomfort or illness and it starts to subside she should be fine. If you are concerned that she is unwell contact your physician.
