Sounds like you might have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I got it when I was very young. Now that I am old, I found the best thing to do is avoid certain food and drink, sodas are carbonated and usually cause gastric distress in some people. Spicy food is bad too, stay away from very fatty foods like french fries and lot of candy. Best things are drink alot of liquid, stay active, lots of exercise and avoid gassy foods and you will feel better. It is nothing they have a cure for, some of us are just more prone to gastric distress.

Gastritis is a condition of the stomach. Are you sure they didn't say irritable bowel, ulcerative colitis or crohn's? Do what your gastro says. He knows best about your condition and what you need. If you don't follow the diet religiously, you will continue to irritate your colon and have problems.

Calm down and believe by being a "good patient" will do you wonders. All you have to do it is to be military on the "can eat" ingredients and chose the recipes you really love. The best motivation? Your total recover, you'll see.
