Should they stay illegal for the next 15 years, be given amnesty soon, or something in between that makes them legal but not a full citizen??? These are the real two choices unless you take the law into your own hands.
In 1845, Thomas L. Nichols a doctor, dietician, Social historian, and journalist argued that prejudices against immigrants are unfounded; he criticizes movements in the United States to restrict immigration:
“The right of a person to emigrate from one country to another is one which belongs to him by his own constitution and by every principle of justice. It is one which no law can alter, and no authorities destroy, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are set down, in our Declaration of Independence, as among the self evident, unalienable rights of a person.” (Williams 18)

The United States should legalize illegal immigrants, Tamar Jacoby, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute wrote.
“Clearly, the immigration system is broken, and enforcement alone whether on the border or in the heartland is not going to fix it. Which is why President, George W. Bush’s proposal to create a guest worker program that would divert the illegal influx into legal channels and legalize up to eight million undocumented laborers already in the country is such an important development. After all, what kind of democracy depends for its livelihood on a vast pool of non-citizen non-persons who cannot participate in civil society?” (Gerdes 112)
And people trying to get to the United States by crossing water, air, and land borders are already dying trying to get here and when some get here they do get shot or murdered and these actions are covered up or officials say "oh he tried to throw a rock at me".

Now the war on terrorism threatens the rights of illegal immigrants. Nathan Newman former Vice President of the National Lawyers Guild, also a lawyer, writer and community activist wrote.
“A new war on immigrants would merely add to the chaos and desperation on which terrorism feeds. There are tens of millions of refugees globally fleeing interstate violence and civil wars. Economic misery and desperation are driving tens of millions more out of their homes and countries. Ultimately, the solution to drugs, excess immigration and terrorism share a basic approach isolate the violent elements.” (Newman 47)
But that just proves that after 9/11 our borders are more secure and there is a plan to build a fence to stop people that if they grew beards would look like terrorist even though not one single terrorist has even been caught crossing the Mexican border. But the real problem is at the ports of enrty.

But there are groups that argue that America’s new border protection forces are improving national security. Asa Hutchinson, the undersecretary in charge of the Department of Homeland Security’s Border wrote.
“Securing our nation’s air, land, and sea borders is a difficult yet critical task. The United States has 5,525 miles of border with Canada and 1,989 miles with Mexico. Our maritime border includes 95,000 miles of shoreline, and a 3.4 million square mile exclusive economic zone. Each year, more than 500 million people cross the borders into the United States, some 330 million of who are non-citizens, through our 350 ports of entry.” (Stinson 16)

Some of these answers show how little you people know about illegal immigrants. You want them to go back and come legally? how many illegal immigrants here entered legally and overstayed their legal visas? thousands. Besides, if they come back legally, how does that guatantee they will conform to all the laws? your legal status does not change you as a person. I know many, maaaaaaany illegal immigrants who are better model citizens than americans. They work, pay taxes and do not live off the system as so many US citizens who are too lazy to work do (just for the record, illegal immigrants cannot get benefits, you need a SSN for that). Having worked in an immigration law firm, there were soooooo many clients who became legalized, started businesses, very prosperous ones and went to give jobs to more people, including US citizens. Look at US universities, most students in medical and engineering professions come from abroad and leave once they get their degree, the US is inadvertently getting rid of talented brainpower because there is no incentive for them to stay. I think this problem will solve itself, at least for those who can get legal jobs elsewhere.

Illegal immigrants should be arrested when and where they are found. The should be sent by the cheapest and most convenient means back to their own nation. If the wish to enter this nation legally, they should cross at the border, through the regular legal immigration channels. Those that continually cross illegally hould be jailed for a set time before deportation. Any company, industry or person who knowingly employs an illegal immigrant should be fined, and the funds gathjered from those fines used to deport or incarcerate the illegals.

You said the a person has the right to immigrate by his own constitution. However he does not have the right to force the legal citizens to pay his way and his families way. When he enters a new county, he is not above their law.
Most prejudices that I see are not on immigrants but on ILLEGAL immigrants who think they don't have to follow the law and who think it is alright to mooch off the system.
There is nothing wrong with coming to this country the legal way and contributing back into the system. To do it illegally is criminal

You've broken it down to our only 2 choices with the optional 3rd of taking the law into our own hands. You forgot the 4th choice of all illegal entrants self deporting immediately and apologizing on their way out for all of the trouble they've caused in every aspect of our lives. I choose #4. Since we know there is a lack of morality that helps us to know #4 will never happen, I can assure you that nobody will be waiting 15+ years to see the end of this illegal influx.

I think a large majority of us are not against immigration. We are against ILLEGAL immigration. Why on earth should someone be able to come here illegally, not pay taxes, and tax advantage of free services?
I live in a town with a huge influx of illegal immigrants. They don't have valid DLs, they don't carry vehicle insurance (they are involved in a LOT of hit and runs), they work jobs where they get paid cash so they don't pay taxes, they flood our hospitals and clinics and don't pay the bills, they take advantage of free lunch in the schools and WIC services, and too many of them cannot even speak the language to properly communicate. This burns me up. I work, pay my taxes, do what I am supposed to do as a citizen of this country, and these people are eating up resources designed to assist legal residents.
If people want to come to the US, there is a proper way to do it. If you can't do it the right way, don't do it at all. I don't believe in giving amnesty to those who came here illegally. Go back home. Submit your paperwork and come here the proper way. If immigrants would follow that simple rule, they would find they were welcome to this great country.

They should NOT remain illegal. They should go back from the place of origin and then re-enter through the legal means.
What the U.S. needs to do right now:
1. Vigorously defend our borders.
2. Arrest and deport illegals.
3. Enforce our immigration laws.
4. Fine and punish non compliant employers.
5. Cut off access of US taxpayer funded social services to all illegals.
6. Review existing immigration laws.

The illegal criminal aliens should stay exactly that. They all need to be deported and then to apply legally for entrance into this country. They should not be rewarded for their criminal activity in any way, shape, or form.

"Indeed, the beginning of all freedom is the right to be left alone" Chief Justice Douglas, 9th District Court San Francisco, Calif., Miranda decision.
Can't we be left alone by illegals?
You ask about illegals, then all your quotes refer to Immigrants, whats the subject here, illegals or immigrants?
