It could be mange, but it could also be allergies or hypothyroidism...you should have the vet check this out...most problems are easily treated if you don't let them go until they are out of control.

sounds like mange and severe dry skin! I would take him to the vet as soon as possible but untill then you need to buy some medicated shampoo wash him regularly and buy him some hypo-allergenic lotion for dogs available at petsmart and saturate your dog with it at least once a day untill you can get to the vet.
good luck!

I would suggest diping your pet in a good dog dip and you can purchase a dip called LYM dip at the site below. This is a good dip for mange, mites that the human eye can't see,and fleas. You can also give your pet about 1/8 teaspoon of the liquid CORN oil shortening 1 X daily, this will bring its coat back to normal,or you can also give it the Derm Caps, which can be purchased at the same site below.

Sounds like mange, there are 2 types demadex and sarcoptic (don't know if spelt correctly) both need treatment by the vet as it is caused by parasites (not visible to the naked eye). It is extremely irritating and speads easily so please get to a vet and get treatment

I've been around dogs for lots of years, and I've never heard a story like this.... I'd take the dog to the vet.
