,in case people mistakenly take it seriously,
stating
"This book contains material on creation. Creation is a scientifically disproven hypothesis, definitely not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered"

what do you think?

The problem is then you would have to put in disclaimers for the tower of babel, the exodus, the parts about the sun standing still etc. You would almost need a disclaimer as long as the entire Bible...

The one that should have a disclaimer is evolution! It should state:
This hypothesis is put forward based on a few facts, placed in order the best man can establish. It does not answer where matter came from not does it hold true to a lot of other scientific laws. It holds some credibility because it has the same order as the Bible's account of creation. We are changing it as new facts emerge. It does give you a reason to say there is no God. Past that, just trust us.

Wow...I think you should re-examine your position. Creation is no more "fact" than evolution, as "fact" is that which can be repeatedly demonstrated in the lab.

As for part of your statement..it is so true...should be studied with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered..... both of which I believe you have chosen to stop doing.

Read the following listed as a starting point, then come back with your criticisms of their writings.

Interesting idea. I'll bet the people who are insistent on that equivalent disclaimer being put of materials about evolution wouldn't be so vocal about that disclaimer on their materials. lol.
We need to start showing up in court during cases that argue that issue and insisting that if they get to put a disclaimer on verified scientific data, then they have to also put a disclaimer on their bronze age superstition.

I think you`re an idiot ! Science has in no way "disproven" creation , little girl ! In some cases , the opposite is true ............. the bible has disproven science !

Why not have a disclaimer in books of science instead ??

Now who could possibly take it seriously! Even religious people (the sane ones) do not believe in the creation story!

The story is perfectly fine, but should be treated as a peice of cultural mythology rather than science.

I think I would have said some abusive things if your question had been "should the threory of evolution have a disclaimer?"!

I don't think so. I think you should just put it up on the shelf with the other fairy tales. I mean the Ugly Duckling doesn't have disclaimers now does it?

Sounds good to me. or perhaps, "This book contains a series of unprovable stories and outright lies, combined with ancient myths, stolen from long gone civilizations"

Fine as long as the same goes for the evolution "theory".

Maybe we should lobby to have Evolution Theory inserted into the bible...
