You very well may have an onset of arthritis. Alert your physician depending on your age and family history, he may suggest more testing for inflammatory disorders such as lupus. Do not wait or try to ride it out. Please seek medical attention.

Your wrist won't be swollen from carpal tunnel syndrome that a nerve problem.
If it is swollen all of a sudden it most likely is an injury.
It wouldn't be swollen and painful if it wasn't.
Arthritis comes on slowly ,sometimes many years, but is a possibility. You didn't say how long this has been going on.Was it overnight all of a sudden or gradual.
But carpal tunnel it won't be.

You could have carpal tunnel syndrome. It is worth seeing a doctor. A splint can help to give it a break and feel better after a day or two.
