This is a hard one to answer. Pretty much anything that could get you out of the military illegitimately could result in a non-Honorable discharge. A lot of it will depend on the unit's CO and how he/she views the actions of the soldier trying to get out.
One of the more common ways is to 'eat your way to freedom.' Get so overweight they discharge you on medical grounds.
Get pregnant if you are so equipped.
Intentionally come up positive on drug tests.
Fake an injury.
Fake a mental illness.
You are right, the military isn't for everyone... but going back on your oath and contract DOES have consequences and that will most likely be the complete loss of any benefits/bonuses and a non-honorable discharge. Just accept that if you can't fulfill your word. Not trying to be harsh, but I don't understand why people think they should get 'Honorable' discharges without having honorably served...

The best way is to stay throughout your contract. If you enlist in the military, you are making a commitment to the military and to the nation. Your duty is to fulfill that obligation.
In addition, fulfilling your obligation will an ensure an honorable discharge from the military. If you do not finish, or unable to finish, your enlistment contract, it is nearly impossible to be granted an honorable discharge. A general or other than honorable discharge is not something you want to have to carry with you the rest of your life. Bad conduct discharges are the worst.
The military is not for everyone, but it is what you make of it. If you feel that you should not be there, you will not have a good term of service. If you are in a command that does not suit you (or in a job that you hate), you can try to transfer to a command that will better suit you.
Have patience, there are a lot of trying times in the military (and in other walks of life), but there are a lot of great things also. Just be the best soldier/Sailor/Marine/airman that you can be and make the most of your military experience.

Wouldn't brag about it too much to your GF's dad!!! You could probably get along alright if you can get ahold of some Military Field Manuals from a Library or go to a Barnes & Nobel Book store and sort of read up on some Military Books. Just a suggestion!! Also go to a Army-Navy Surplus Store in your area, because they usually have books on Military survivor techniques and weapons. Otherwise, you will have very serious conflicts!!

The best way to get out of the US Military is to complete your enlistment and get an Honorable
Discharge instead of a General or Medical. If you are having problems adjusting to the military, see your 1st Sgt and Platoon Sgt and they can counsel
you and they are there to help, believe it or not!!
US Army(RET) 1958 - 1979!!

Start wetting the bed. Seriously. They'll let you out on General/Medical discharge.
But without fulfilling your enlistment term you'll never get honorable discharge unless you're seriously injured in the line of duty.

Military Veteran: means I am a veteran of military service. Self-Proclaimed Military: means you have proclaimed yourself to be what you are not. And that can get you in to real trouble. Try proclaiming yourself to be a police officer, or President of the United States and you will see what I mean.

You'd be better off sucking it up and finishing your contract.
I didn't reply to your other posts cause of the old saying 'if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all'......

You were an adult when you signed the contract.
Adults fulfill their obligations, especially one as serious as an enlistment.
