The car is running perfect. Service engine light came on. What could be the problem? It's not the gas cap. I checked that!

There could be a number of things instead of changing a lot of parts take it by auto zone and have the codes read will coast nothing ,If you go to the dealer it will coast 75.00 or better without even fixing anything , hope this helps,

There is a long list of things that will cause the check engine light to come on. Take it to a garage and have the code retreived from the computer and they can advise you on the possible cause.

Yep the light is on. Wait and find out what gets broken. Take it to the Lincoln dealer and they can trouble shoot.. And one other possibility is take off the battery cable and let the computer reset. Wait 3 minutes and Put the cable on

It could be the time for an oil change. Many cars, have reminders for that purpose. You might also check your owners manual and see if there is any mention of what this means.
