Answers:
It is actually a question that has a variety of different answers. The height a cat can jump depends upon many factors, the most important deciding factors being within breed, shap of muscle structure, male or female, personality, spaded/nuetered or not, health and weight.

In order for the best results a good owner would play daily with the cat. This doesn't mean to simply drag a string around. A good excersise during play is to go behind a wall, on your hands and knees, then peak around a corner at the cat making sniffing noises. Pull your head out of view from the cat occasionally to incite a type of advantage the cat will have for a plan of attack. Then peak your head around again, the typical cat will charge you and perhaps give you a good smack in the face. Thus, afterward a good face smackin chace your cat away again then run to another wall and hide for a second then repeat the process.

The way this works is by excersising the cats back leg muscles. You'll notice that just before your cat launches it's attack it tends to move it's hind legs back and forth to properly position itself for a good launch at you. The cat also tenses itself up.

Another good way to get a cat to jump is by making a claw like shape of your hand and then putting your hand in front of the cats face acting like your going to grab it. Occasionally you might want to pet the cat a few times to reassure the cat that your playing. Every time the cat tries to attack your hand, do the same claw shape with your hand only each time do it a little farther away from the cat's face than before. If your doing it right you can get the cat to jump really high. Bob is my cat's name and he can jump as high up as I stand. 6 feet. He's really strong from constant play and excercise.

Other Answers:
Depends on how scared they are.

my sisters cat can jump a good 5 feet straight in the air.

he can jump 7 times is lenght

I once owned a tall but slender calico cat named Jimmie. Friends would claim this cat could actually fly. The highest I ever saw her jump routinely was to the top of open doors...so about 7 feet.

I suppose however, it depends on the cat you are talking about....house cat? or perhaps Liger? (bet they can get some air! It depends how scared they r. 8 feet 12 feet onto our roof!
It might also d epend on the breed of cat.....thats what i think. as high as they truly feel like.

My cat used to jump from the floor to the top of the refriderator in one leap, so I guess pretty high, she also used to leap at the chandeliers crystal when they would move in the breeze and once hooked a claw in the chandelier and broke her toe before I got her loose. The sky is the limit is my guess.

Not that high. They're about a foot tall and 10 feet is too high for them. I've seen ours do 8 feet though to get on top the bookcase, but usually they only jump to the top of the table which is about 4 feet high.

My cat, who is rather fat as well, can jump from the floor to the top of a very tall wardrobe which must be at least ten times her own heigh. From standing, not perching on something.
