or on the side? Isn't it common curtesy to park in front of your own home? Some people are just rude...so, how can I get back at them?

No, they should park in front of their house. As for the rest of the question, it would be inappropriate for me to make suggestions. (Kick as..)

If the street on which they park is a PUBLIC street, you are not only being petty but rude.

I do house cleaning for a living, and I had parked in a space... one of 3 "open" spaces... near my client's home. Almost immediately the neighbor came out and said, "That is MY space, move your car; this is MY house." She didn't even say PLEASE. I replied to her, sarcastically, "Gee, I didn't know this was NOT a PUBLIC STREET!" I then got back in, moved ONE space over, and then went to my client's home to clean it. P.S. I have a sign on my car identifying me as a housecleaner... so she knew I was there on "temporary" business, and wouldn't be there all day or all week, whatever!

This was not the FIRST time I had such an incident happen while "on the job." And when you consider I live out here in the "wide open spaces" of WYOMING, it's hard to believe people can be SO petty and SO "territorial" when there's so much ROOM around!

Now, if the vehicle which is parked outside your home remains there for days, and weeks... it is then considered an abandoned vehicle, and as such, you may inform the law enforcement agency about it. But if it is just someone parking in front of your house, say, your neighbor has a garage sale, and someone parked there to visit the sale... what's the beef?

If you have a neighbor who is parking in front of YOUR house continually, then why not speak to the neighbor about the situation? Is their driveway being repaved, so they cannot park in their own driveway? Is there remodeling of their garage, so they cannot park in their garage? Are they "making available" their driveway for the temporary use of a relative who's in town visiting? Is their car broken down and they cannot move it any closer to their home? Do they now have 5 cars (2 parents, 3 teens) and they no longer can fit 5 cars in their driveway?

You see... there can be many reasons even for neighbors to park in front of your house.

What the heck... if the neighbor's vehicle were a Lamborgini or Rolls Royce, I'd be HAPPY to have them "lend some class" to my dump! WHOO HOO!!! Maybe my other neighbors might think it's MY CAR and be jealous!

As for "getting back" at them, if they are not doing anything illegal, then you are being the petty and rude one.

Have a great day!

Don't lower yourself to their level! Try putting a polite notice on your frontage somewhere...ie your gate. Please don't park here, I don't park outside your house and block entry! of course I could but I would rather you read this polite notice and park elsewhere, Thank You. If that doesn't work and I am trying to be lady like here...lol....but you could try "This is NOT a public car park......but if you insist on parking here I will charge you a nominal fee of £5.00 per hour and while you are away from your vehicle I will ring the local clamping company and have it towed away. Thank you!".......Good luck I hope either one of these options will work. I know how you feel....people do the same to us it is very annoying and we have had some success with the second option. Although there si always the odd "twonk" that thinks it is funny to park where the hell they like. Even in private "disabled" zones. Some people just do NOT have any manners at all or consideration for others!

What are they supposed to do if there is a strange vehicle (belonging to a non-resident) parked outside their house? Many times I come home in the early evening and find a vehcile parked outside my house and so I have to park as close as possible - outside my neighbor's house - as I am unable to park directly in front of my house. The public highway is not part of your property and therefore you have no legal right to tell anybody where they can or can't park.

Lol,
well, I wouldn't suggest doing anything illegal or cruel, but I understand your anger and frustration this can cause.
I don't understand why people can't be more considerate at times...
I also dont know your drive way setup or the distance between your house and his and if the property's private or public..
If nothing else works, take some deep breaths and count to 10:)

No, you aren't being petty for not wanting them to park there, they should have their own parking area. OTOH, you ARE being petty for asking how to get back at them.

no it is not rude it is your home and you deserve to have it look nice and not filled with cars. you could go over and ask them nicely to please move their cars out of you front yard because that is where they basicly are. I wouldnt get back at them that is rude as well. They should come over and ask you if you can park in front of your house.
