Plan a week in advance by making a list of everything you are going to need.Start by considering when and where? What R you going to be cooking? How many people? Are you going to have help or are you doing this yourself. Plan around what other like to eat and whether or not they may be vegetarian. Of courseif's there's kids. What they will or will not eat. The meal itself, appetizers, desserts, drinks, etc,. Is it kids and adults or not? Go to grocery store. Then the day before take out whatever you need to thaw ahead of time. Cook the things that take the longest the night before and store in frig covered. This will help you the next day by not being so stressed trying to get everything done at once. Cook ahead of time to help save time. I know because we have a large family and when one is doing the major portion of the meal it is always planned ahead of time and everyone else helps with the smaller side dishes. Again,I hope this helps.

Have a shopping list with your menu ideas in mind, shop the outside of the store where you get fresh foods rather than canned and pre-packaged items they are cheaper and healthier. Don't buy too much fresh items at once . It isn't a great deal if you throw it away. Consider having theme weeks a lot of Mexican ingredients on week Italian the next. Consider going to a Farmer's Market. Chooise foods you know will be eaten. Include a lot of fresh fruits and veggies in your diet. Cook in bulk on your days off and freeze things like rice and beans or prepared dinners . Eat them later in the month for variety and convenience. Use the bones from beef, chicken and fish to make stock. This is also a good use for carrot peels, onion & celery ends.

Think about who you are planning a meal for.
Do you know anything about their likes or dislikes?
Are they allergic to anything or on a special diet?
You want to also consider cooking times. You don't want to cook all day for a dinner party, you will be exhausted and won't enjoy yourself.
Plan a meal that can be prepped the day before. Something that can by marinated for 24 hours then placed on the grill. Prep veggies early and season so they absorb the flavor before cooking.
Make sure you have a fitting dessert. Lemon goes well with fish or italian. Chocolate is great with anything but fish.
Have an appropriate wine to go with each part of your dinner. For example: A red wine to go with appetizers and dinner, then a great dessert wine for after. My favorite dessert wine is a Vouvrey. Remy Pannier Vouvrey is a really sweet light wine.
Good Luck and Enjoy!

My guess and that's what it is, Lots of starchy food causes
weight gain. Lack of exercise and extra weight brings on
diabetes. Monitor your blood sugar and if it gets too low or
too high, adjust your food to compensate. Starchy foods
bring it up slow. Sweets brings it up quick. If it's to high the
foods like green beans, squash, cabbage and backed pork
chops will bring it down. Following a strict diet in many cases
will make medication unnecessary. Monitor your sugar and
get plenty of exercise. Don't skip medication if you need it.
Best of luck.
