Marmite is English and made from yeast extract, vegimite is Australian and tastes as though it is made from old socks all though it is made from veggies.

They are made in different factories: marmite is made in the same factory as some other product which has meat in it, although vegemite is made in a completely vegetarian factory, so many strict vegetarians would often opt for the latter. However both products do remain meat-free.
Pricewise, marmite is more likely to be more expensive because it is a brand name.
And finally, they taste almost the same as each other, as they are very similar recipes.

The difference is taste. If you have been brought up on one of these products then that is the one you prefer. Or maybe you don't like either. I love Marmite and it's no good someone telling me that Vegemite is better because we are in the world of personal choice here. You cannot force food preference onto someone else. Their taste buds are in control here. I've yet to meet someone who likes both equally although I'm sure that such people exist.

Marmite is traditionally made from the leftovers from the production of Bass Ale in Burton-on-trent, although these days it is just general yeast extract. All the people talking about meat in it are talking rubbish - it is 100% vegan. Bovril is beef extract, and totally different. Vegemite is just a different recipie, and includes vegetable extracts and spices not found in Marmite.

Vegemite is more salty than Marmite. It's all basically the same stuff - yeast extract.

Vegemite has vegetable extract in it as well as yeast extract and hence is a bit lighter in colour and tastes a little less "tart". Not keen myself, prefer Marmite.

I think some pple might be thinking of Bovril which had beef extract in it until 2004 when UK beef was banned.
Marmite & Vegemite are the same product (yeast extract) but competitor brands.
I've never had them at the same time... I think they taste the same but I've know pple will swear by one or the other.

just the ingedients proportions. there is no meat extract in marmite, and there are no vegetables in vegemite (other than onion extract). they are both made from yeast extract, and taste slightly different to one another. marmite tastes much better, in my opinion.

Marmite is made from yeast extract NOT meat.
Vegemite is made from yeast extract and vegetable ingredients so has a slightly different taste.
I personally prefer low salt yeast extracts when you can get them from health food shops -
