My three month old has had a slight cough since he had his first set of injections three weeks ago. I haven't taken him to the doctor as it only happened a few times a day, mostly when i put him on his back. He was feeding fine and seemed happy and healthy.

Over the last three days his cheeks have been flushed red on and off throughout the day so i took his temperature which came out at 37c. He also feels quite clammy and is dribbling a lot and has also been quite irritable in the evenings.

Should i wait until the doctors surgery opens tomorrow or do something about it now. I looked on the internet and it said a cough in babies under 4 months can be serious. Now i feel like an awful person for not taking him to the doctors sooner. Does anyone know what this may be?? Thanks for your comments, no nasty answers please.

Please go NOW!! You can't take chances when they are so young! Don't start dwelling on it, thinking yourself as a bad parent. You are not as you are concerned for his health. You may be a little nervous, worried that it may be nothing and you're wasting someone's time. That is never the case! To state a cliché, 'It is better to be safe that sorry'.

Phone NHS 24, They are really helpful and will advise you what to do next! My son had same symptoms and he was teething (cut his first tooth at 3 1/2 months) so hopefully it's something minor! Good luck!

if his fontanelle is sunken it means he is dehydrated which is dangerous due to his age
ring your gp or nhs direct straight away
