*TRIGGER* Possibly not I'm 29, have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder (for which i take medication) and have had periods of suicidal feelings/ideation for as long as i can remember. The most important thing is to get these feelings out in the open and speak to someone you trust before it's to late; I'm lucky I'm still here having made one really serious attempt by taking an OD of prescription meds along with 3 bottles of wine. I have learnt to talk to people I trust (Mental Health workers mainly but also my Mum) when I start feeling like I'm going to do something stupid. People close to you will probably find it hard to deal with your feelings and may not want to accept that what you're saying is true but trust me they'd rather hear about it than find you dead. If the feelings you are having are becoming overwhelming then it's important that you seek some professional help from your GP (or Family Physician or whatever you call them where you are) first of all and explain what you're feeling, they can then help diagnose whether you have an underlying condition that requires treatment.

High school can be hell. It is so hard when you think you have to resolve all of lifes questions when you are 16! Plus I don't know of any high school age human that has ever thought that they were a) attractive b) lovable c) worthy d) smart.....you get the idea.
Depression is so common. Too many pressures on kids. Too many facts come flying at you. I am happy I am not a teenager now. It has always been hard, but our world seems too busy for teens today.
The most important thing to know about suicide is that it is the most selfish thing you can ever do. You leave everyone around you destroyed, with no answers. I bet you will never meet a set of parents who say "I'm glad my kid never came to me with their depression. I wouldn't have been able to handle it. Good thing they hid this and suffered until they killed themself."
Get where I'm going? Talk about it with the people who care. Or call a help line. Or email me.
Good luck. You are not alone.
And yes, life does get better after high school. The whole world is out there waiting for you.

It depends on why you're having these thoughts..If it's problems in your life, school, your self-image etc, then the only way those thoughts will go away is if your problem and the reason you're having those thoughts go away.
If you're having suicidal thoughts for no reason, then you
should probably see a psychiatrist, you may have a mental disorder of some kind.
Maybe you should talk to someone you trust, and see why you're having these thoughts?
If it's problems or you're unhappy about something that's causing your thoughts, then try and sort them out, if you need help don't be afraid to consult who ever you need to help you out! If you're depressed, you might need anti-depressents.
Good luck hun!

Everyone has thoughts of suicide at times, but teenagers are more concerned about their minds and bodies because of the changes they are undergoing. If suicidal thoughts are preventing you from taking part in activities or schoolwork, you should see a psychiatrist, psychologist or counselor. If you don't want your parents or friends to know about therapy, there are places you can go for help, although if your problem is serious enough to require medical treatment, your parents may have to be brought in. Look in the telephone book under "Social service agencies," or call your local United Way office.
If you are suicidal because home or high school is "hell," the question you need to ask is, is it hell because I'm making it hell, or is it hell to a lot of other students or friends?

Thoughts about killing or harming yourself is not a life phase. It means you are trying to cope or process something that you need help with.
If you can, talk to your parents about talking to a professional for guidance and help. If they aren't supportive, start with your guidence counsler or a trusted teacher at school. Remember that teachers are truly a resource (I know it doesn't feel like it sometimes), but they are there because they care about kids and want to make a difference in their lives.
Everyone needs help sometimes dealing with stuff, and it's totally normal, so don't feel ashamed or anything. I went, and my therapist was awesome. If you need someone RIGHT NOW, call a suicide hotline. There are people volunteering on the other side of the line waiting, hoping, praying that someone will call them.

Such thoughts will not go away without proper treatment. Your suffering from depression and there has to be an underlying reason for it. Please speak with your parents or a school counselor asap. Teens do go through hormonal changes but such thoughts are over the top and very alarming. You need to be assessed by a certified psychiatrist and a plan of treatment needs to be put in place. Please do not delay because you have your whole life ahead of you and the sooner you get help the better.

Have you told your parents about this? You need some help and it is obvious you can not deal with this on your own. Talk to your parents, TODAY! Suicide is a thoughtless, selfish way to crater the lives of everyone that loves you. These things do not go away like turning off a light switch. Get help.

everyone is different i used to self harm as well actually I am still working on it but I'm trying to do it through running and holding ice. It will go away gradually but even if you feel better keep doing what ever you are doing that is working because you don't want to go back to that state
