I was 11B in the Army, that is Infantry, and when we were not out in the field it was like a regular 9-5... well sorta we would start the day with PT every week day that is at 0630 and work out for no less than one hour. Than we would be released to shower and eat breakfast and have to be back for formation most of the time by 0930. We would thank have a uniform and boot inspection that would last for about 15-20 minutes. Than we would get started on the days tasks. Most of the time it would be classroom stuff or equitment maintenace stuff like that. Than by 1130 we would head out to our lunch break and have to be back in formation by 1300. We you continue on the days task until they were finished and most of the time we finished early and still had to wait until 1630 to get released for the day. You could be tasked out for a detail like i was on the funeral detail so those of us on that detail would travel around and go to funerals mostly for retired vets. From the time your released until formation the next morning you could do anything you wanted as long as you kept your nose clean. You could leave post as you wanted and return as you wanted there was not time restiction state side. For free time you could really do just about anything that you wanted to do as long as we were not on DRF(I'm not going to get into what that is now) you could go anywhere you wanted on the weekend up to 250 miles out and if it was over that all you would need to do is get a pass that was always signed ans long as you were not in trouble for anything. The pass would get you out to 500 miles from base after that you would need to take leave.
Than there was the field time thats where we made our pay. We would go out in the field and train from up to 27 days out in the field. Most of the time though it was around two weeks.
Sorry for some reason my spell check is not working by the way

Once you are stationed at the base you can leave whenever you want as long as you are not required to be at work, training, or an appointment. How much time depends on your job. As a Security Forces dog handler I was on call for over a year and had to contact someone if I was going out of the local area. I could not get drunk or party all night and most of my time was spend getting sleep because I never knew when they would call me in. I would get called in in the middle of my sleep schedule after working 14 hours and I'd still have to go in later that night. It was rough but once they eventually got more people certified and it calmed down. Other careerfields differ. I know the fire department works 24 our shifts and has dorms inside the fire department and they get called out a lot but the day to day jobs such as finance, medical (except EMT), services, ect. work normal days 8-4 monday thru friday and get weekends and holidays off. When you get to your base they will have you go through FTAC which is a bunch of briefings about the base. They will tell you about any places around that are Blacklisted meaning you can't go there as military. I know where I am they have one club blacklisted for drugs and gang violence and another that is in the works of getting put on it and there is a BBQ place blacklisted because the owner is a local organizational leader of the KKK.

It depends on your unit and MOS. In my first active unit I worked a 9-5 job and had a ton of free time because we got every 3 and 4 day holiday that came up, and a few just for a made up reason (no deaths in 7 months, yayy!). While in another unit, we spent anywhere from a few days to several weeks in the field all the time, doing 24 hour operations, and you got no free time what so ever. I never went to a combat theater, so i have no clue how much time those men and women get, but I'm betting it is practically none.

I could leave the base during my off hours as much as I wanted to. In fact in the states I lived off base. On base there is just about every activity know to civilization from continuing education, almost every kinds of sport, arts and crafts, auto shop, marinas, etc...etc...etc.. my base overseas even had a ski lift on base and of course there are the all important golf courses.

entirely dependent on the OPTEMPO of the unit and how much qualifying they must do. You can expect the regular work day to be anywhere from 6-12 hours long.

Depends on your rank and time served and wether you live in a dorm/barrack or in a house or apt. They have different levels of "liberties"> For ex. if you are lower ranking and brand new you might have a curfew and not allowed to stay out overnight. If you are married or have been in for a while, you can pretty much do what you want.
