I saw where you can buy tasers for like $20 on ebay and it made me wonder. I'm usually good at dodging the JWs and mormons but opened the door expecting UPS and it was Mr. Watchtower. After like a LONG 3 minutes I was like, ok how much do I need to give you to go away and he went into some long explation on why he does not need my money... If I had a taser, would I have got in trouble (ohio/USA) for zapping him to the ground? What voltage taser would you recommend? I see 100,000v-250K, 500K and 1 milion. I was thinking a 500K for JWs and a 100K model for kids selling stuff.

Tasers are fun when you want to watch the human body crumple, but you open yourself up to liability lawsuits.
A better thing to do for JWs is just hang an American flag over your front porch. They believe that the flag is a false idol that we pledge allegiance to, and they will not usually come on to your property, much like hanging garlic on your door to ward off vampires.

As for Mormons, they are far less pushy and will leave easily without threats of violence or idolatry. Just tell the missionaries that you have a different belief system and do not wish to be taught. They'll leave with a smile and go on to the next house.

Keep in mind that JWs and Mormons are still very good, moral people generally trying to make the world a better place from their belief systems.

No, it would be assault, murder and/or attempted murder depending on the voltage and outcome. You will NOT find a 100,000; 250,000 or 1M volt taser for $20 first of all. I will say that I know almost anyone can get their hands on almost anything.. but there are some things you do not want to have in your possession.

The standard taser used by Law Enforcement is 50,000 volts and those are potent enough for their intended/legal purpose. The taser is used to stop someone from doing something i.e. harming them self, threatening others and/or trying to subdue someone without the use of lethal force. Your 'pre-meditated' plan to utilize a taser against religious people & children is NOT a good idea; however it will give Ohio Law Enforcement a huge clue that you may need to spend some time with them.

I realize they are a nuisance; however open the door, if it is not someone you want to deal with. SHUT THE DOOR.

I wish you well!

I think this may be better suited as a question in the etiquette section--anyway, if your goal is to simply not have any solicitors at your door post a sign on your front door as a deterrent. If someone still insists on knocking/ringing your door bell just point to the sign and wave them goodbye.

It takes a mature person to deal with such things in a reasonable way. Physical violence is rarely an answer to most situations in life let alone a JW coming to your door. It honestly doesn't take money to make a solicitor go away--if they're a salesman it will bring them by more often and with more persistence. Just let them know you are not interested and leave it at that.

Save your twenty dollars and use a couple of it for a "no solicitors please" sign.

I'm sure it would be illegal to use a Taser in this instance. Why don't you just close the door? Once you give them the chance to start "witnessing" they will stay forever.

Install a peep hole in your door that way you won't have to wonder if it is UPS or not.

I wouldn't use a taser on a person who is not armed. Perhaps you may want to purchase a mans best friend that will deter them from coming to your door in the first place.

There is a much easier way to get rid of them. My mom used it and they blacklisted her and never came back.

Politely answer the door and invite them in, tell them you need to sit down because you have just had a blood transfusion and your still weak from it.

They will run away so fast it will amaze you and black list you so no one from their church ever comes near you again.

Problem solved, and it's legal everywhere.

An even better weapon than a taser is to arm yourself with knowledge so that you can poke holes in their ridiculous claims.

You may also be interested to know that if you get one of them to doubt their faith you will be 'blacklisted' and their church will forbid them to ever visit again.

They are only trying to show you there are ways to promote peace it doesnt matter what religion it all leads to being a better person. I do not believe in organised religion but can you use your taser on racists pedophiles and murderers instead?

lol. I wouldn't recommend tasering anyone.. even if it'd be satisfying to do so.

However, you can control the flow of conversation without waiting for them to catch their breath.

Just interrupt at any point and say "you've caught me at a bad time. goodbye." and then close the door.

simple!

I don't think it would be a good idea. If you ask them to leave repeatedly and they refuse, call the police. If they get aggressive or violent (which would probably never happen) then you might have some grounds to defend yourself. I know here in Idaho if someone threatens you in your home you can defend yourself without impunity.
