I was rasied a catholic all my life. I have been struggling to believe there is a God though. I mean I have seen so many good people face troubles and so many good people die. If there was a god why would he make us pay for the sins of Adam and Eve? Why would he want us all to suffer because of what they did? It's not right I mean you see all these little children being faced with illnesses like cancer and it's a terrible thing. Why bring someone into this world only to have them suffer through a terrible illness and then unfortunately in the end some of them end up dying from it. If God has everyone's life planned out why would he do such a thing? How does he decide what suffering he wants each individual person to go through?

But if God knows everything that is going to happen to everyone than, he knew that Adam and Eve would go against him and eat the apple thus bringing sin into the world. He must have planned that out himself. Right?

We have to look at the Big picture. God never said that we would not have troubles but wants us to have faith in Him that He will be glorified through it.

We humans think that earth is the best place ever but its were we will spend eternity that will truly be our home.

God uses our suffering to strengthen others. Let me ask you this, If you were abused as a child, who would be the best person to speak to for understanding? It would be someone who has been there. They have the most impact for helping others out.

I know people say " If there is a God why are people starving?" Did you know we have enough food on this earth to feed everyone on it 100 times over? It's through man's uncaring hearts that people are starving. They have fundraisers on TV all the time to help the needy , can you imagine if everyone cared? what would happen? there wouldn't be any more hunger.

I've struggled with the question of why people suffer, but not with the question of whether God exists.

Of course He exists. He never promised us - in the Bible or anywhere else - that we wouldn't suffer, or that life would be fair on Earth.

I believe that this life is something like Purgatory. This is not the end for us. We suffer horribly, and sometimes it's for no reason, and sometimes it's because people fail to do the right thing. For instance, 9/11 happened because of many, many bad decisions. God didn't cause it.

This life is just the beginning. I don't understand the why of it, but for some reason we have to tough it out, and we go on to the afterlife, which is beautiful beyond measure - nothing like this existence here. And we meet up with the people we lost. And this life will seem like it lasted just for a second.

James 1:13-15 answers your question as to God knowingly letting these children suffer - "When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death." God does not bring about the evil. He did not create the evil. Satan did that. Satan is the ruler of this world. (1 John 5:19) He is the one causing all the suffering and wickedness on the earth today. God has a plan to put things back the way they were when Adam and Eve were first created, the earth as a peaceful paradise, with perfect humans on it. That was God's intention for mankind and God will see to it, that his purposes are carried out. (Isaiah 55:10,11)

After looking at all the answers you have recieved I wonder why it is that people who claim to be Christian and believe in the Bible never use it as a reference?

Take a course in statistics and see how numbers can be manipulated to present a finding that will support or undermine a claim. Is an IQ test built around the things you are familiar with so that it is in actuality a test of your acquired knowledge? So they have been found to be. I Q tests are very weighted. It has been my experience that those who wish to be exalted for their great intelligence could very easily be insulted to actually discover that a God who knows all made their brain. This information offends the very thought that they desperately cling to for their value that they have mental superiority in the universe. And if their IQ's are indeed remarkable, meaning they have a remarkable capacity to learn, why can they not understand the basic fact that they were created? If the very simple can accept and understand that there is a God, then where have the mensa people gone wrong? Have you heard of a mental block where some people just can not seem to understand something? This is a sad, sad state. Maybe they need more B12 to cause the blood brain interaction to again flow freely. Imagine their sweaky high voices that just can not talk right when they face God and He asks them why they called Him a sky pixie?

With God you live.
With God you do not die.
Don't be eternally lost, be eternally saved.
God is not a belief. All it takes is knowing God.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The only eternal sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirirt. It is okay to doubt the Father and the Son (God and Jesus), it will be forgiven. What will never forgiven is doubt in the Holy Spirit.

How do you seperate the Holy Spirit from the Father and the Son?
How is it possible?
Where is it?

The eternal sin is the proof that Jesus lived. It is what he died for, so that you could know. It's God's knowledge. Understanding it is the key to unlocking the truth in the Bible.

Don't live your life as a sinner and then use your God given life as an excuse. You should be using God as the excuse not to sin.

We no longer suffer for the sin of Adam and Eve.John the Baptist when he beheld Jesus said "..Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the (sin) of the world" John 1:29b.
Note at this time Jesus is not taking away the sins of the world but the "sin".That is why Jesus was baptized that day by John.He did not need to repent for His sin but rather the sin of Adam and Eve.That is why we as Christians don't baptize babies, Mark 16:16.We baptize those that have repented and been born again, John 3.A baby cannot repent nor believe.
When we become accountable we are faced with the same thing that Adam and Eve were faced with and we choose just as they did to sin. That is why we need a Savour.

On my way to Church but would like to share more latter.

Just give up man there isn't an old man with a beard. The human race came into existence sixty thousand years ago after millions and billions of years of cosmic and eco evolution. Nothing is planned out things happen due to pre existing causes. Disease happens due to the need of bacteria like other organisms to survive and evolve. Life is unfair and one can only hope for the best. Find a girl or boy you love, a career you enjoy, and a hobby then you shall be happy.

All the other answers will undoubtedly tip-toe around the question. Saying god has his reasons, or that you can't understand him. Funny that we can't understand him but yet we suposedly know of his existence and all his laws. They will also try to through some idiotic philosophy at you that sounds really nice. But it will just be as hollow of truth and reason.

Original Sin

Exactly god must of planned that out since god is the one who made up the notion and reality of sin in the first place. He is the one who made it a sinful act. So then he chose himself to die for this thing he made up himself. So that everyone could be forgiven of the sin he created. Because we all know god can't just forgive us without crucifiction hes not the creator of the universe or anything like that. Makes a whole lot of since doesn't it.

Good morning Brownie....Tough question you have asked. But a good point. When God created man/woman He probably didn't realize that man and woman would have a mind of their own so do speak and wouldn't follow all the rules that God had set forth such as the 'eating of the Forbidden fruit'. God had punished Adam and Eve for disobeying His order. He kicked them both out of the Garden and inflicted Eve with the conception of bearing children. Now the way I look at this, in my way of thinking...is that God had a plan to where His creation of man/woman would be eventually turned in another direction. God wanted Adam and Eve to prosper also to bare and have children. So if you were a parent, like God actually was, wouldn't you want to see your children 'move out' so do speak and have a family of their own? Well in a way this is how God saw Adam and Eve. If they had stayed in the Garden then they wouldn't have prospered in the way God had intended. Now I don't feel God was a vengeful God but He wanted Adam and Eve to know that one doesn't disobey your parent so do speak. So He placed the 'Fear of God' into Adam and Eve so do speak. We as His children aren't being punished for what Adam and Eve did in the Beginning. Some religions believe that God knows one's destiny before they are born. Maybe God had promised Himself that when a soul enters a new life from the Guf that whatever happens in that 'new life' He won't change it's destiny. The soul already knew it's destiny before it was given the 'new life'. We can't determine one's future. God places us on a path of life. He also places obstacles in that path so it won't be easy. God gave us a brain for knowledge and to learn and the ability to teach others. It's our decision and our own choice on what path to choose for our destiny, God already knows.I don't believe that God wants to see His children suffer.Nor do I believe that He has afflicted us or the children with disease and pain. I feel that man and society has afflicted disease through ignorance. When God created all living life maybe disease was included in the cycle. And then again maybe it was evolution that was the creator of disease. We don't know, we can only assume. God is a forgiven God and He doesn't go punishing us for trivial issues that happened at the 'beginning'. Have a blessed day!

1) knowing and planning it out are two different things. If God plans it out He takes away free will.
2) That you believe something is wrong or bad comes from where? If it is only a man made idea then it is only opinion or inconvenience. If it isn't these things then you are saying there is some higher law than man's and therefore a higher lawgiver.Yes there are many bad things happening in this world and while we are the cause of many of these we can also be the remedy for many of these. We are His hands. We could be relieving someone's pain.

Prior to birth we lived as spirit children of a Heavenly Father.

Because our Heavenly Father loves each of us, he prepared this earth with the necessary conditions such that we could continue to grow and develop. One of the principle reasons for earth life is to develop a better understanding of the principles of happiness. To allow for this, earth life is full of competing truths and people making both good and bad decisions. This helps us to develop an understanding of right and wrong that goes beyond some powerful being just telling us the answer.

I don't know how much our individual circumstances and experiences are designed for our growth, but according to the scriptures, at least some people such as the prophet Jeremiah were given specific assignments to serve others during their earth life. Regardless, I have a firm belief that our Heavenly Father is aware of each of us, and cares for our welfare.

There are some short videos at the last web site listed below with more details about the purpose of life.
