I recently posted a question about a church that encourages its congregation to marry very young. (see my other post) The church in question revolves around a “small core of women” that allege to have some sort of prophetic relationship with “God”. They use this “gift” to advise (in my opinion control) their congregation on matters ranging from who they should or should not marry to how they should invest their money. Further, according to what I could gather, this “supernatural” power has been “proven out” over and over again. For example, they predicted that my co-workers wife would have twins, even before the doctor.

Normally, I would just chalk this up as another fundamentalist cult, except for a conversation I had with one of the women (another co-worker) that they encouraged to get married at a young age. She noted that her grand-mother (she never gave me a straight answer on her grand-mother's affiliation with the church) was heavily into witchcraft.

The following is taken from an online article. I have included the link for the full artical below.
"The reason so many people are turning to Wicca is because it’s being presented as a powerful and glamorous religion and something out of the norm. Those involved in Wicca claim to have a depth of power far greater than the average person. But where does this power come from?

Wiccans say their power comes from several sources: Spirit (they define this as God), the Elements, the Ancestors and the Angels. Witches use their own power — power of the mind — to manifest what they need. They believe that through the centuries, humans have suppressed many of their innate talents, including the power of the mind."

Predicting twins is no miracle. A woman carrying twins is generally much bigger in each month than a woman carrying just one baby. This is a cult of sorts, pure and simple. A lucky guess at twins is no prophetic miracle. It's very easy to make predictions if you know how to work people over. Some people make a living doing this. Witchcraft hs nothing to do with Christian churches but witchcraft is not a bad religion either. These women are trying to control their members and are neither christian or pagan. They are just phonys playing with peoples lives.

This question is complex without more information. First of all this would not be Christian Wicca, it does not sound like.

Wiccans believe in the God, Goddess, and are either solitary practitioners or part of a coven.

There are some practices, such as Santeria, Hoodoo, and Vodoun that sometimes combine Christian practices with "witchcraft and charms", most of these traditions have some form of wise women in them as well. Some priests and preachers have secretly been Santeria or Vodoun.

It sounds like either one of two things:

The church is led by some "wise women" who believe in the wise women traditions, but have become authoritarian in a matriarchy.

Or they are witches who use the church as a front, and really believe they are witches of some tradition or somethng. (Different old families who were more I would say involved in folk magick than what Modern Folk Magick is considered themselves witches, some believed Satan granted them powers, others were just good ole wise women using herbs and charms as folk magick and passed it on but called themselves witches.

So as you can see it is complicated.

Or maybe their just a Christian cult that ended up somehow matriarchal?

I've been seeing this come up a lot lately. Although now I know that christian wicca exist I'm a tad confused at the conflicting beliefs of the two. I find it hard to comprehend how you could be both.

i'm now no longer Wiccan yet I did pass away Christianity for Wicca so i will respond to. there have been extremely some issues approximately Christianity that I disagreed with. Their seeming intolerance for gays (of whom I had extremely some acquaintances, and that i certainly became a closeted bisexual), human beings of different faiths (i could no longer understand why a supposedly only and merciful god might deliver solid human beings to burn only because of fact they did no longer worship him), disrespect for nature and the recommendations-set of "we very own the Earth and we are able to do in spite of we'd like with it and the creatures who inhabit it", and females. The final maximum of all...the god of the Abrahamic faiths did no longer seem to love females very lots, seeing them as in trouble-free terms slaves, new child-bearers, and sexual satisfiers quite than as human beings. The Abrahamic god gave the impression to be very petty and merciless too, appearing at cases like a petulant infant. different than that as quickly as this infant did no longer get his way and had a temper tantrum, total civilizations died. Wicca to me became a solid decision. No jealous, petty, all-powerful deities, understand for the Earth and for nature, woman and male have been balanced equals and have been companions, and it became usual extra tolerant. What rather attracted me to Wicca became the undeniable fact that the God of Wicca became lots nicer, extra mature, and not in any respect misogynist. So there you pass. wish that facilitates.

any church that is both Wicca and Christian is not a church. Christianity is pretty clear on not allowing it's followers to participate in witchcraft.

The word witchcraft does not imply Wicca.
