TOOTHPASTE IS A GOOD IDEA. You need everything you would normally take if you planning to stay in hotel for a few days. Plus expect a lot of fun and good food.

I have been on more than 15 cruises Here's what I suggest you pack.

The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM. So take swim wear, shorts, sandals, beach shoes, your snorkel equipment if you have it, sun glasses and sun screen, lotions, a cap or big hat for the sun, a book if you are a reader, your music player, sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, your camera, and other personal toiletries.

The ship will provide soap, but not toothpaste and your cabin will be cleaned twice a day and fresh towels and wash clothes will be provided. The ship will also have shampoo and a hair dryer, but generally not an iron.

After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc.

Your cruise may have two formal nights when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. But most people do dress up in a tux for men and a long dress (any color) for women. Some men just wear a suit and tie and some women wear a nice dress but not a gown. You will not be denied access to the dining room or anything else if you choose not to dress up. (we usually take off the formal stuff after dinner and pictures anyway).

- Take a 6-pack of water and/or soft drinks in your carry on for your cabin. Do NOT try to take alcoholic on board, especially in your carry on; they will confiscate it.

- take a thermal cup or mug with a lid for cold drinks when you are around the pool, most plastic glasses on cruise ships are small.

-always pack with soft sided luggage as it stores better under the beds.

- Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and and your clothes that you sleep in.

- There is generally a room service menu that you can order from 24/7 and that food is free but you should tip the delivery person a couple dollars.

Every time I've been dragged onto a cruise by my crazy relatives in Sweden, I've brought my own shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, etc. All of my toiletries. They'll obviously provide towels, pillows, etc. Have fun!

Here are Carnival's suggestions ...

http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Dress_Attire.aspx

What should I pack?

The first thing to remember is that you're on vacation and you are aboard one of our "Fun Ships" to have a good time. The second thing to remember is to travel light. If you keep those two things in mind, you should do just fine.

Casual attire and resort wear is the order of the day both on board and in port. Shorts, slacks, sundresses, blouses, etc., are in line for women. Clothing for men is just as casual. You should bring a pair of rubber-soled sandals or sneakers to wear on deck and a pair of good walking shoes. You might also want to consider bringing along a sweater or jacket for cool evenings and inexpensive rain gear in case of a sudden shower. Women may want to bring along a hat or scarf. You'll have a chance to dress up on two nights during 7 day or longer cruises (one night on shorter cruises) for the Captain's Cocktail Party and the Gala Farewell Dinner. On the other evenings you can dress casually for dinner (no shorts or tank tops).

For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido Restaurants are open nightly and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo; suit and tie; sport coat, tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit; Capri pants NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts, tank tops and bathing attire are not permitted in the Dining Room during dinner.

What amenities are in my stateroom?

All staterooms have an amenity basket displayed in the bathroom. The amenities are subject to change and are only sample sizes. The basket may include such things as: his/her razors; shampoo and conditioner; body wash; Tylenol; deodorant; hard candies. Supplies will be replenished by the room steward, if quantities allow.

Bring travel bottles of your stuff: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and brush, sun tan lotion, after sun cream, sea sick pills, Tylenol, nail polish, remover, moisturizer...you can buy all this stuff on the ship, but do you want to pay 5 times as much as you would on land? Have fun!

Yes, bring all of your personal hygiene items. Things are a little bit more expensive in Freeport, Nassau but it is the same exchange rate with Bahamian and American currency.

Unless you want to by everything on the ship(only if they have it), then I would bring your own...with shampoo, they have it there, but its not really good shampoo so you should bring that too, if you dont want to use theirs...
