Dr. Freddie Wade at the Middle Tennessee Bone and Joint Clinic in Columbia, Tennessee is one fine knee surgeon!!
I've also been told that there are fine orthopedic surgeons specializing in knee replacement at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville.

There is not BEST knee surgeon in America. If you need a total knee replacement then you need to check with people in your area, (especially physicians and surgeons) to find out who they would have perform that procedure on their family member.
There are some orthopedic surgeons who I whould want to work on my knee for an athletic injury and others for a TKR. Also you don't want to travel outside your own area for something like a TKR. Stay near home where the transition from Hospital to rehab to home is easiest.

YES!!!! His name is Dr.James Andrews. He is located in Birmingham, AL at St. Vincent's Hospital (Alabama Sports Medicine). Athletes from all over the country even world come to him for surgery. He has operated on athletes ranging from little league to professionals. He is world-reknowned. Baseball pitchers, football players, soccer players, Olympians etc. He has fixed them all! He fixed my husband's knee after a football injury. He is ABSOLUTELY the best in the country. His associate Dr. Larry Lemak is also a top sports medicine surgeon. His specialty is shoulders, elbows, wrists etc. They have an incredible rehab facility.

You are going to think this is stupid but ask Howard Stern (the radio guy). He actually does know a lot about back and knee doctors that he has used as well as some professional athletes. No, REALLY.
