Honestly, I wouldn't. It would be stifling for me.

Since it's clearly not just a phase, I urge you to consider the services of a competent counselor and psychiatrist to deal with this.

I would.

To an extent, I have the same problem. Like, if I go out to a club or something, I honestly have to smoke a little bud beforehand or have a couple drinks when I get there.

I used to be VERY bad off. Back when I was in college (I'm in my mid 20s now), I would be in class or in the hall or wherever, and I would just sort of freeze up and have to go hide out in the bathroom or just go home. It was almost like a panic attack, maybe it WAS panic attacks.

Some days, I wouldn't want to leave home.

It could be - and still can be - pretty bad at times.

I work from home because I don't want to interact with the public all day long. I just........can't. I'm not exaggerating and I don't think most people understand that I literally *can't*.

I would have NO problem dating someone with the same sort of problem, although it might be beneficial for you to date a very extroverted, outgoing person (it might also be frustrating) but maybe they could help you out a little, you know??

Anyhow, I wish you all the best.

Sounds like you need some sort of therapy to help you get over this phobia. There is a medicine for that problem, can't think what it is called now. I would get with your doctor. As far as, would I consider dating/seeing anyone who is shy or has this phobia? Well, I guess it would depend on the severity of it.

If you're scared of being around people, how are you supposed to meet a girl who would stay with you?

Maybe you should try some self-help books to improve your nervousness and social skills.

In my opinion, I have no problem being with a guy with a social phobia, I guess I'd feel needed. I like feeling needed. Anyway... your perfect girl will come sometime. Just, maybe you could make it easier for her by helping yourself.

That's not a problem at all, that tells you're honest and sincere, the shy people when say something they do really mean it, who would hate being around such a person!
wishing you all the best, and of course try to be more open, why staying in the shadow in a sunny day..

Since you both sem to have the same phobia the good thing about it would be you could both seek counseling together if you wish to try to overcome your phobia. You can give each other support and work thru it together.

Whats wrong with being shy?! everything could change when the time come. A girl would go for a man heart, character and feelings. So think too much about your shyness..

ok, I don't know how you would meet someone with this shyness and social phobia. If you meet someone who is outgoing, they can bring you out of your shell a bit and it will be a good balance.
