Sometimes when I order bagels or donuts I don't kow whether to ask for six, or a half dozen. Which is best?

Either one is fine to say, they both equal the same.

A half dozen dozens is six dozens, or 6x12 which is 72. Six dozen of something is 6x12, or 72... so six dozen dozen is 72 dozen, or 864! (6x12x12). In other words, the DIFFERENCE between a half dozen dozens and six dozen dozens is 792 of whatever you're counting; 864-72, or 66 dozen, if you're keeping track. :o)

there is no difference between 6 and half a dozen. although, i think you should ask for half a dozen, because it's more commonly used when buying bagels or donuts.

6 letters of the alphabet.

I guess I say 1/2 dozen but why would you worry about such trivial things? The person boxing up your order certainly doesn't give a darn.

The only difference is the strength of the vacuum between your ears.
